When I open a .doc file in Word, the title bar displays "Compatibility mode". I understand that this means that certain features of Word 2008 are not available because it is not .docx. Can anyone tell me what features are not available?

As revealed in the Paste options button, formatting of pasted text defaults to "Keep Source Formatting". The other two options available to those willing to use the intrusive, time-consuming Paste options button are "Match Destination Formatting" and "Keep Text Only".

After the 11.4.2 update, release May 13th, when I get emails in Entourage with Word docs attached, they have a generic document icon and if you double-click them, they don't open with Word, they try to open with OpenOffice. Plus you don't have the option to pick an app
