Since Word 2008 does not support recording macros in the way that has be possible in previous versions (and is still possible in most mainstream word processors), what do you do if you want to automate a process and are not familiar with AppleScript?

Hello, I'm using Word 2008 on a MBP Santa Rosa 2,4 2 GB RAM. I'm preparing a book based on my thesis which is very long (1000 pages). I'd like to do a fresh start (erase all index entries, styles) and I've heard that Copy and Special Paste to Plain Text is the cure.
