Little ring tone upon saving?24 Feb 2008 19:21 GMT2
Hi, I just upgraded from an older version of Office to Office 2008 for
Mac. I work primarily in Word. It used to be that when I saved a file,
I would hear a little ring that let me know that I had saved. Now when
I save I do not hear that sound, and would actually like to have it
"Recovered Files" in trash24 Feb 2008 19:04 GMT4
I often have "Recovered Files" in my trash (the next morning) after extensive saving of Word files. I suspect there is a cache of saved Word files (both automatically saved and what I explicitly saved). Is there such a cache? How do I empty it?

Currently when I wish to review a document I have to find and open the Reviewing toolbar...that's OK if you have to do it occasionally, but I am currently wading through assessment and review of 70+ different papers and dn't want to have to do this with every document...is there ...
Word 2007's 'Style Sets' vs Word 2008's 'Document Themes'?24 Feb 2008 11:25 GMT4
Are Word 2008's document themes equivalent to Word 2007's "style sets"?
I had assumed so, but I'm having trouble with the 'save theme' button in the formatting palette. I opened a Word 2007 document with a style set applied to it, and clicked 'save theme' to save it as a document ...
Where is "Save As"?24 Feb 2008 11:16 GMT9
Why doesn't my Word in Office 2008 have a "Save As" function? I have a "Save as Web Page," but not just a general "Save as." This is really annoying when I'm trying to make multiple documents that are similar. The function exists in Excel, but not Word.
Using two dictionaries concurrently24 Feb 2008 11:07 GMT14
I often find myself switching between languages in the same document, and even between different versions of the same language (American and British English). If I select the American English dictionary, "honourable" will be flagged as an incorrect spelling. If I choose the ...

embedded images cant be viewed in PC office?24 Feb 2008 10:41 GMT1
when i embed an image in a word document (i.e. i paste a chart from excel as an image into the word doc), and then i save it as a regular old .doc file, the images cannot be viewed on a pc version of office - the error message "quicktime and a decompressor are needed" is given. ...
Acronym/initialism manager?24 Feb 2008 10:30 GMT3
I recently edited a friend's Master's thesis, and his use of acronyms and initialisms was inconsistent throughout the 100-plus pages of the document. It would be very useful if there was a manager for these things to help consistency and to keep track of them as long papers ...
How do I change default font?24 Feb 2008 09:16 GMT2
I can't work out how I change the default font - I used to have Arial 10pt as the default but have lost that when upgrading to the latest version of word for mac... and I cannot for the life of me work out how to reset it.
Help please!
VBA Shade property not scriptable?24 Feb 2008 00:29 GMT1
All you applescript experts out there. I'm 'converting' word macros to applescript and can't find an equivalent to the following VBA syntax in the Word applescript dictionary.
ActiveDocument.FormFields.Shaded = True
Anybody know if it's scriptable?
Recalculation of a formula in a Word Table23 Feb 2008 20:39 GMT2
I have formulas in a Word Table and when I change a value, I expect to recalculate the formulas by hitting F9 (at least this is what worked on my PC). How do I do this on my Mac?
Creating new sub directory or folder in Office 2008 for Mac23 Feb 2008 19:24 GMT1
How can I organize my files in sub directories in Word 2008 for Mac? In Vista, I right click on Document and create a New Folder but that does not work in Mac. I am a new IMac owner (1 week) and am not yet up to speed (simple when you know how). Thanks.
how to23 Feb 2008 18:54 GMT4
How would I go about migrating custom toolbars from one computer to another? Where are these contained? Thanks in advance.
Office 2008 font menu does not show the font ?23 Feb 2008 17:54 GMT2
By that I mean that it's just a list of fonts, and not the actual font
that it is supposed to be ?
In 2004, the font description was in the font it was describing,
therefore being very helpful. In 2008, the list is just that , a list,
