After years on a PC, I jumped both feet into the Mac world (been away a long time). I have a spanking new MacBook Pro and a virgin install of Office 08. Here's the issue.

There is no overtype mode button on the status bar in Word 2008. Anyone know how to put it there?

Is there any method that can be used to convert WordPerfect labels into Word
2003 labels?  I've tried some different methods but after the conversion Word
normally displays one label per page.  Thanks in advance for any help you can
provide.

Whenever I wish to print anything from MS Office 2008, I cannot find the print option of which specific pages I want, and when I try to print powerpoints I don't see the option of printing as handouts/gray scale/black and white. This is VERY annoying.

And yes, I hit the blue arrow

How can I leave a space (say 1/3 page) to be blank and then draw a diagram with several objects. I find they keep moving around and the rectangle of space I am using is not really format free.

I would like the equivalent of a free drawing area. Thanks

I have word for mac, and for some reason, I do NOT have spell check installed. I don't know if this was a fluke when I was downloading the program (I didn't download ALL of office, just word and powerpoint). I am driving myself bananas writing papers for school is a gigantic

Beneath the regular toolbars or docked toolbars, there is a mini-toolbar with five elements: Document Elements, Quick Tables, Charts, SmartArt Graphics, and WordArt. They are things I rarely use. Is there a way to either: 1) remove that toolbar altogether (preferred), or 2) at least

Word does not remember toolbars. For example, I like to have the reviewing toolbar while using Word. When I quit the program, and start it up again, the Reviewing toolbar is gone, and I have to reselect it to appear.

Is this a known issue?

I've run Office 2004 with no problems for months. Suddenly, over the weekend, Word freezes while it is starting up. It does this while it is checking (or whatever it's doing when you see all the fine print changing in the splash screen) VBA. It's always at that point that it freezes.

I find that when I create a table in Word 2008, it doesn't take much typing (fewer than 20 lines or 500 words of text) before a serious lag develops between my typing and the appearance of characters in the document.  There is a similar delay in the deleting and backspacing keys.
