This is a problem I've had as long as I've been using WORD.
I have my preferences set to auto-create "em dashes" when I hit two
dashes (--). In WORD, these instances are reformatted from, for
instance, the TIMES font, to ABADI MT CONDENSED.

Word uses floating menus (formatting palette, toolbox, etc).
They always seem to end up in front of the document when I open
another window in word, or in another program.
I like these menus, but spend a lot of time moving them out of the way

I am trying to work with the picture styles but when I click on the pic and
then click on Format, it is missing the Picture Styles Group.  I added it to
the Quick Access area but it is grayed out and unusable.

Word 2K4  on Mac to Word 2K on PC need to share auto-texts. Where does this
file live on the Mac and where does it go on the PC.  No longer have a
working PC to look for myself and time is of the essence.

In Winword you can easily pick a menu without using the mouse: Alt + a
letter from the menu name. You can see which letter you need because
it's underlined in the menu bar. Likewise, when a menu is open you can
pick a command by typing the letter which is underlined in the name ...
