This just recently started when running MS Word 2000. The display seems to be constantly refreshing itself. The pointer turns into the hourglass icon and you see a blank bar scan down the page from top to bottom. It does this many times a minute and is very annoying. At the ...

| Online View | 07 Oct 2007 18:49 GMT | 6 |
I've been working in Word X for many years, mainly using 'Online View' - I like the way it avoids page breaks so I can concentrate on the flow of the text, rather than worry about appearance or formatting. However, I've just switched to 2004 and it's different. The page width

| FLOATING MENUS | 06 Oct 2007 19:06 GMT | 3 |
Word uses floating menus (formatting palette, toolbox, etc). They always seem to end up in front of the document when I open another window in word, or in another program. I like these menus, but spend a lot of time moving them out of the way

This must be obvious, but not to me! I started a new document using the business template called Quotations. It has a sort of graphic image in the middle of the page as a background. Because I have to fax this quote, I need to remove that

| Commenting About Comments | 05 Oct 2007 15:37 GMT | 2 |
I always thought Word, since version 4 could do just about anything in at least two ways. I haven't worked with it for quite a while, but I'd like to respond to the (professional editor) client who sent me this criticism. Here is what she wrote on the difficulties of using the ...

I have a client who uses the format of jobnumber.jobparttitle.doc in their Word documents. for example:1794.06Posttest.doc. They send stuff to me all the time using this format. But when I open it, work on it and try to save it, Word will only save it as 1794.

| Keyboard shortcuts for menus | 04 Oct 2007 18:19 GMT | 7 |
In Winword you can easily pick a menu without using the mouse: Alt + a letter from the menu name. You can see which letter you need because it's underlined in the menu bar. Likewise, when a menu is open you can pick a command by typing the letter which is underlined in the name ...
