Display Issues08 Oct 2007 19:38 GMT2
This just recently started when running MS Word 2000.  The display seems to
be constantly refreshing itself.  The pointer turns into the hourglass icon
and you see a blank bar scan down the page from top to bottom.  It does this
many times a minute and is very annoying.  At the ...
When printing in word 2004 for MAC application closes08 Oct 2007 11:06 GMT2
Help this is driving me nuts. My printer works fine in all
applications including other office products. In word I can print a
normal letter size document. However I am trying to print a custom
size item 8.5 x 5.5. I need to change the paper handling in order to
Online View07 Oct 2007 18:49 GMT6
I've been working in Word X for many years, mainly using 'Online View'
- I like the way it avoids page breaks so I can concentrate on the
flow of the text, rather than worry about appearance or formatting.
However, I've just switched to 2004 and it's different. The page width
automatic em dash always changes my font07 Oct 2007 16:26 GMT5
This is a problem I've had as long as I've been using WORD.
I have my preferences set to auto-create "em dashes" when I hit two
dashes (--). In WORD, these instances are reformatted from, for
instance, the TIMES font, to ABADI MT CONDENSED.
FLOATING MENUS06 Oct 2007 19:06 GMT3
Word uses floating menus (formatting palette, toolbox, etc).
They always seem to end up in front of the document when I open
another window in word, or in another program.
I like these menus, but spend a lot of time moving them out of the way
Word 2007 Ribbon missing Pictures Styles05 Oct 2007 22:58 GMT1
I am trying to work with the picture styles but when I click on the pic and
then click on Format, it is missing the Picture Styles Group.  I added it to
the Quick Access area but it is grayed out and unusable.
can't change printer settings default05 Oct 2007 22:53 GMT1
Every time I try to print a Word document, the 'paper size' dialog is
set to 'US Letter/manual-roll' and won't print unless I change to 'US
Letter'. I can't find any preferences or other settings in Word or in
my Epson (R1800) printer settings to change this default. It's driving
Wildcard - Find and Replace05 Oct 2007 22:45 GMT2
I am using word 2003. I am trying to use the wildcard command within word.
I am trying to delete any character or digit before an "@" symbol in the
word document.
Is there any way to do this easily with wildcards?
How to remove background image from template?05 Oct 2007 16:06 GMT4
This must be obvious, but not to me!
I started a new document using the business template called Quotations.
It has a sort of graphic image in the middle of the page as a
background. Because I have to fax this quote, I need to remove that
Commenting About Comments05 Oct 2007 15:37 GMT2
I always thought Word, since version 4 could do just about anything in at least
two ways. I haven't worked with it for quite a while, but I'd like to respond to
the (professional editor) client who sent me this criticism.
Here is what she wrote on the difficulties of using the ...
using extra periods in file names05 Oct 2007 12:29 GMT7
I have a client who uses the format of jobnumber.jobparttitle.doc in
their Word documents. for example:1794.06Posttest.doc.
They send stuff to me all the time using this format. But when I open
it, work on it and try to save it, Word will only save it as 1794.

Can I create a 2008 Monthly calendar in Word : Mac 2004?
I can work with a calendar created in the PC version but can't figure
out how to create one in the Mac version!
Many thanks!
Auto-Text from Mac to PC05 Oct 2007 12:10 GMT6
Word 2K4  on Mac to Word 2K on PC need to share auto-texts. Where does this
file live on the Mac and where does it go on the PC.  No longer have a
working PC to look for myself and time is of the essence.

Keyboard shortcuts for menus04 Oct 2007 18:19 GMT7
In Winword you can easily pick a menu without using the mouse: Alt + a
letter from the menu name. You can see which letter you need because
it's underlined in the menu bar. Likewise, when a menu is open you can
pick a command by typing the letter which is underlined in the name ...
Autoshapes04 Oct 2007 16:43 GMT2
I am using Word 2004 for Mac (Mac OS X 10.4.7), Version 11.0. Every
time I try to use Autoshapes, Word freezes and I get the spinning
wheel. I have to force quit Word.
I have tried every way of inserting an autoshape and it keeps doing
