Long-time user of Word (currently 2004, latest updates), but always
confused about the Normal and other templates. Some questions:
1. I hear that one shouldn't rely on the Normal template (that which
comes up with Command-N), because it can easily get corrupted. If so,

I have the Word X for Mac and am running it on a Power Mac G5. I'm
unable to get the Formatting Palette to come up on the screen.
Can anyone help?

I want to format the background color of my headers and footers. (Just
one background color per document, not a rainbow of colors). I can
change the text color but I have not figured out how to change the
background.

I am not familiar with .xlt. I know that .xls works fine.
I have Stuffit expander and Office for Mac.
Each time I try and download this file it Hangs.
I know its OK as I have used it elsewhere.
