Occassionally, when I download Word documents from the web, I will get
a gray grid as a background that only appears in the Page Layout view
(my default).

is it possible to have a non printing watermark in Word2004 for Mac?
i have been trying for several hours now, to no avail. So far, the
only way I see it possible, is to have Drawing Objects unchecked in
the preferences menu, which wont work.

I have created a simple word document and have placed it in my Public
folder (OS X.4.9), with read/write access to everyone.
I would like to allow non-concurrent access to edit this document, but

In word in upper left in font field it says Copperplate BT.
The plateBT part get cut off from view. This is another issue, only way to
see that is to get cursor in their and move it over manually -- any ideas on
how see what font you have--as the field is too short to show it all?

For some reason that I don't understnad my version of Word (2004
version 11.3) has started applying most formatting instructions to the
whole document, for example underlining a word or making it bold,
applying bullet points, numbers or indenting a paragraph, sees the

I use Office 2004 for the Mac.  I am currently using MS Word and I
must've done something because the sound when you save, when it checks
spelling, etc, is gone!  I know this is not a major issue but, how do
I get those sounds back?  Thanks.

Hello:  I want to number the pages  in Word- insert -- numbering it will add
the last few lines in the footer instead and the numbers are greyed out  I
have never had a problem with numbering the pages before  how to I fix this?

I was improving on a Word document and upon completion, i tried to

I got Big Time problems with dictionaries. (I have a flat panel G4

I've bought a new Sony Vaio VGN-SZ4 laptop with Vista.  I've installed MS
Office 2002 on to the laptop.  If Word is open and I don't use it for about
20+ minutes the computer completely shuts down and I have to reboot.  When I

This is a new thread because the old one got polluted.
I have tried all the Print troubleshooting steps and have come to
believe that there is an incompatibility between Word 2004 and OS X
10.4.9.

Please help. Using MBPro duo, MSX , just updated to version 10.1.9,
and now it will not launch. I trashed and uninstalled the previous and
re-installed. Get the splash screen, nothing else. I trashed the
com.microsoft.Word.plist, and that did not help. Running 10.4.9

when I try to save/open files in Microsoft Word, the usual file-
browser window comes up, except that in the sidebar, my user directory
icon is dimmed, preventing me from accessing it with the mouse.
Curiously, I can navigate inside the directory using the keyboard.

New to Word for Macs
When I save a document I am only offered a choice of my major
folders-- those in my HD window like Documents, Desktop, etc to save
into. The drop down menu at Where: does not offer any of my organized
