I am writing a dissertation and my footnotes are not renumbering after a delete one. Instead, they are staggered, going from, say, footnote 17 to footnote 19. Can anyone help me get this back to normal?

I used to be able to print my daily notes for my boss, with no problem. At a certain point ( with no discernible action on my part) the notes still looked perfectly fine, but the result from printing divided the page of text in half, giving me two pages.

Everytime I open Microsoft Word, it opens with a unwanted document that will not delete. I have "select All" and delete, it comes back. I have used the "insert" key and typed over it , it returns. I brought a new microsoft office, but that wasn't the problem. help
