Word problems after SP2 upgrade30 Nov 2005 23:16 GMT9
I recently installed the SP2 upgrade on Office 2004, running OSX
10.4.3, PBG4. This has fixed the problem of Word freezing after a
document was left open and idle for a long time. However, it has
introduced two new bugs:
Guide to Word 2004 with good index?30 Nov 2005 22:24 GMT7
In my quest to get comfortable with Word/Office 2004, I'm looking for a
good manual, the sort of guide where one can look up the answer to a
specific question or problem (in fact, a manual just like the wonderful
printed manual that Microsoft included with Word 5.1a, which offered a

Help with 2 weird behaviors in Word 200430 Nov 2005 01:13 GMT5
Thanks for all the help with my previous questions.  I've got two more:
1.  I've just 'upgraded' from Word 5.1a to Word 2004, so all of my
preexisting text files are in Word 5.1a format.  When I open up a
preexisting 5.1a text file, make some changes in Word 2004, and try to

Since downloading Mac Office 2004 onto my iBook +OSX I cannot set the
default language in Tools. My preferred language is English UK; I click
this as well as indicating that this selection should be the default
option of Word from now on.
Positioning lines28 Nov 2005 19:58 GMT1
I want to make three or four lines of text on a page. The booger is
that I want each line to be on a baseline that I, not Word, specify.
Each line will be a different size type with the spacing between lines
to be adjusted as I want.
Find/Replace, with case change28 Nov 2005 18:30 GMT13
Hi
Using Word 2004 here.
I've got a bunch of documents here, and certain names are in CAPS, when
they actually need to be in Title Case and bold. Of course, I could do
Bad idea to have both Word X and Word 2004 on same drive?28 Nov 2005 16:46 GMT1
I've recently purchased and installed Word 2004 on my hard drive.
Previous to doing this, I'd briefly installed Word X as a temporary
work-around to solve some printing problems I was having  with Word 5.
I now realize that Word 2004 lacks the ability to save a file in Word 5
Delete selected text not working in Word 200428 Nov 2005 02:46 GMT3
I recently installed Word 2004 and have been adjusting the preferences
in keeping with the recommendations in "Bend Word to your Will".
For some reason, now when I select a block of text and hit 'delete',
instead of erasing the text the cursur just goes to the head of the
Send to back not working27 Nov 2005 17:25 GMT1
My wife and I are both running 10.4.3 (I'm on the iMac, she's on the iBook)
We've both got Office 2004 version 11.2
Today she tried to place a drawing from Microsoft Clip Art into a document
and draw a square box around it. She was then unable to send this box to the
Symbol Menu Has Disappeared26 Nov 2005 22:26 GMT8
Hope you can help me.
The "Symbol . . ." menu under "Insert" on the menu bar has disappeared from
my Word 2004 app. I have exhausted my extremely small bag of tricks --
running disk utility, reinstalling, first, Word, then the entire Office

Print window: Can "PDF" menu/button be scripted?25 Nov 2005 17:09 GMT6
Hey all --
I'm chasing after the holy grail of Applescript with Word: saving
documents as PDFs.
So far, I've found no information on how to do this through Word
Word 5.1's "Calculate" command in Word X or 2004?25 Nov 2005 07:21 GMT3
I'm trying to find a replacement for the "Calculate" command that was
in Word 5.1. You could select a list of numbers (either in a table or
not), choose Calculate from a menu, and then it would put the sum on
the clipboard. Furthermore, you could type an arithmetic expression
Inserting fractions in Times24 Nov 2005 16:11 GMT41
I need help with inserting fractions from the character palette. I see all
kinds of fractions there in every font but can't get them into Word,
