I use a Powerbook G4, supporting OS X, but am trying to resolve a
problem with a legacy mac.
Under Mac OS 8.1 (Powermac 7300), and using Office 97 and Word 6.1,
when  adding either i) PageNo, ii) Date, iii) Time to the header or

I save a file on Word for Mac that has footnotes in it, in ordinary
numerals.
I then load it on my PC using WordViewer and it converts all the
footnotes to Roman numerals (e.g. 25 -> 'xxv').  I can't get them back.

i have the problem, that in our apple-pc-room with microsoft office
2004 i can not change the settig for the auto-store-file from word....
when i want to select a folder on the server, word want´s to have a
local disc to save on.... but i dont want to allow this to the

I am using Windows XP2000 (Office 2000). After a power failure, it
takes several minutes for the Word to open a fold/file.

them The only commonality I can see is that they use unusual fonts.

In Office 98 for Mac there were templates for resumes, etc. and other
useful items.
The newer version of Office 2004 does not seem to have these. Where have
the multitude of templates gone, or do they all have to be downloaded

When I have the show/hide button activated in order to see paragraph
marks and other formatting characters, I sometimes encounter a small,
solid, black box next to some of the paragraph marks.  Does anyone know
what these are?  What is their purpose?
