Help with inserting forced page break in Word 200431 Aug 2005 19:43 GMT1
I'm running Word 2004 in 10.4.2 on one computer and in 10.3.9 on
another. I have a document that I am paginating, and in three or four
spots I want to insert a forced page break in the middle of a justified
paragraph. Unfortunately, this automatically places a carriage return at
Missing "Data Merge Manager"31 Aug 2005 06:55 GMT5
I've used the Data Merge Manager before--with various documents.
Now when I open a form document that I've created before, the Data
Merge Manager is checked--which means that it should be visible.  But
it's nowhere to be seen.

Wildcard search is sulking31 Aug 2005 01:59 GMT6
After playing about with wildcard search with mack's three space
problem, my v.X has given up on {m,n} style match counts. It appears to
use {1} regardless of the values of m and n.
e.g if the file contains "buggered", ug{1,}e fails.
replace three spaces between sentences with two spaces31 Aug 2005 01:00 GMT29
In word 2004, I have three spaces between sentences and I need two
spaces only.
In Find and Replace, I used "any letter"  from the special character
menu then "full stop". This found the full stops at the end of words.
Word spell check failure30 Aug 2005 19:40 GMT16
I own the latest  academic edition of Office 2004: Mac and have
recently  begun experiencing wildly uneven spell checking performance
in Word and have exhausted all Help remedies and friendly advice.
I am working on a 100 page manuscript and recently began using Comic
Resequencing footnote numbers that are "off"30 Aug 2005 19:38 GMT3
Dear List,
Like a bad penny, I return. Perhaps someday, in a decade or two, I'll
be able to help answer a question. Now I seem only to nag. First it was
macros, then effacing my identity from a file. By the way, that was
Outlining30 Aug 2005 18:16 GMT3
I am having trouble with the notebook portion of Word, student edition.
Up until now, I have been able to press return, go to next line or
bullet, and press delete if I wanted to move back to the left
(promote).  I was also able to press delete and change bullet to a
Font book Vs. Word30 Aug 2005 16:27 GMT5
Foolish act #1 was installing 983 shiny new fonts along with upgradin
to Tiger. Assumed the "disable" feature in Font Book 2 would grant mor
control, ease of use and management of all these wonderful fonts. So wh
not dop on tons of fun fonts?
Stripping all formatting from Word doc30 Aug 2005 15:32 GMT37
Office 2004. Might be a stupid question, but what's the easy to convert
a document to plain text. I've tried saving as plain text, but I still
get a somewhat formatted document. I want to strip all the MS code from
it.
Bullet & Number lists behavior30 Aug 2005 00:24 GMT2
I have had this issue going back through several versions of Office
(possibly even pre-Office X), on a number of different machines. I have at
least one friend who has the same frustration, and we've never mixed any
software on our machines.
TOTAL WORD TANTRUM TIME - PLEASE HELP!29 Aug 2005 13:04 GMT7
This is quite possibly me being completely thick. If so, please be
gentle with me.
I've used Word for years both at work on PCs and at home on Macs,
starting with a Classic centuries ago. Now I've just bought a iMac G5
strange behavior29 Aug 2005 11:33 GMT20
Hi,  I had excellent help on this list to fix a recent problem by going
to the "Normal" file , deleting it, then quitting and restarting word.
All this is on a fairly new computer with word 2004.  Now I seem to get
other strange things happening (New documents with a large Happy

Windows based machine this is fine. But when I open this email on my

Keyboard indent for Bullet and Number lists29 Aug 2005 11:21 GMT2
I am like 99.9% sure that I used to be able to indent, or go to the
next level of a bullet and number list by pressing the TAB key while
typing, and I could back up a level by pressing SHIFT+TAB.
However, today as I am creating a new outline I seem not to be able to
