On a powerbook G4 I can receive high speed streaming with Quicktime, but not WMP 9 for Mac. Mactopic claims great video. WMP on my PC laptop has no problems. Apple says it's a Microsoft problem. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

I have a 15" G4 PowerBook which runs on OS X Tiger... I tried to use Windows Media Player 9 for OS X and after successful installation, when I tried booting the Windows Media Player, it didn't work. This is what I got from the error report:

Hi, I just installed Windows Media Player 9.0 for Mac on my Mac running OS X 10.4.2. When I try to play any wmv file (including the sample file that the Windows Media Installer installs), I get the error "The specified stream type is not recognized."

I wasn't able to open media or use plugin, as most of you are complaining of as well... tried reinstall, repairing permissions, but no good, always crash on opening. (BTW, using 10.4.2, and WMP9 on a G5) Here's what worked for me:

Been trying to watch a video clip today and for some reason our network connection has gotten a bit unreliable, so the stupid thing plays for ten seconds, pauses for a few seconds while it rebuffers and then repeats. Very irritating...
