I am a new Mac user, and I am trying to install MS Media player on my
system.  I get a error message on my system when I try to open the
downloaded file.
There is no default application specified to open the document "Windows

On a powerbook G4 I can receive high speed streaming with Quicktime,
but not WMP 9 for Mac.  Mactopic claims great video. WMP on my PC
laptop has no problems.  Apple says it's a Microsoft problem.  Any
feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks, Dave.

I added a new station to the favourites and when I quit WMP 9 and later
opened it, all my favourites list has disappeared apart from the new
station I added.
What appears when I click on the favourites menu is the new station is

I have a 15" G4 PowerBook which runs on OS X Tiger... I tried to use Windows
Media Player 9 for OS X and after successful installation, when I tried
booting the Windows Media Player, it didn't work.
This is what I got from the error report:

Hi, I just installed Windows Media Player 9.0 for Mac on my Mac running
OS X 10.4.2.  When I try to play any wmv file (including the sample
file that the Windows Media Installer installs), I get the error "The

I wasn't able to open media or use plugin, as most of you are complaining of
as well... tried reinstall, repairing permissions, but no good, always crash
on opening.  (BTW, using 10.4.2, and WMP9 on a G5)
Here's what worked for me:

Throughout using 10.4 I've tried to install Windows Media Player 9 for the
MAC OS.  I'm really getting fed up.  Whenever I try to intall the program,

I recently upgrade to MAC OSX 10,4,2 and then have  to upgrade  the
Windows Media player to version 9,0, since then I can not open the
application , The following message come out after trying to open it:

Been trying to watch a video clip today and for some reason our network
connection has gotten a bit unreliable, so the stupid thing plays for ten
seconds, pauses for a few seconds while it rebuffers and then repeats. Very
irritating...
