I am running OS 10.4, WMP 9.0. When attempting to play a .wmv file, I get the
message "This file may not play correctly because it was compressed by using
a codec that is not supported."
The file uses Windows Media Audio 9.1 audio codec, and Windows Media Video 9

here seems to be the problem.

I have tried to install WMP 9 on my Mac a handful of times.  I have
downloaded the file several times, unstuffed it with Stuffit Exnander, and
when the time comes to install the file, the box comes up that says "Number
of Files to Install," then the accursed beach ball thingie ...

I've downloaded WMAs from the downloads section of windowsmedia.com (hosted
by neuroticmedia.com), and also from weedshare.com, but am unable to open
them on my 2 Panther boxes.  I get the message:

I'm an old Mac user somewhat confused with all the Unix stuff of OS X.
Can someone summarize what the problem is with WMP not running under
Tiger (if that problem is known) and any possible workarounds. I've
tried the usual with no consistent working results. WMP will work

As a Windows Media streaming provider, we have been plagued by Mac listeners
having issues picking up radio streams ever since they upgraded to 10.4.  
While all of the suggestions about deleting prefences and playlists do help,

Ever since I upgraded to OS X 10.4.1, WMP will not work. I can launch
it, but no file can be played. Often I will get an "Error, can't creat
tmp file" error. The sample file that comes with the installation won't
even play: "Doesn't recognaize that stream" is what I get. Something

hi, I have downloaded WMP (Mac OSX) and it is sitting there in my
Applications folder, but when I try to open a file, the window comes up

I can not get my AT&T CallVantage voice mail to play in Safari.  It used to,
but quit even prior to Tiger.
Their support people say that they ony support Windows Media Player, however
when I try to play any saved files with it, I get a " the files are not in
