I'm an old Mac user somewhat confused with all the Unix stuff of OS X. Can someone summarize what the problem is with WMP not running under Tiger (if that problem is known) and any possible workarounds. I've tried the usual with no consistent working results. WMP will work

Ever since I upgraded to OS X 10.4.1, WMP will not work. I can launch it, but no file can be played. Often I will get an "Error, can't creat tmp file" error. The sample file that comes with the installation won't even play: "Doesn't recognaize that stream" is what I get. Something
