Has anyone tried to update a Garmin GPS via USB using VPC 7?

I have a new powerbook g4 running OSX. I would like to access the
powerbook modem from within virtual PC, which I can't even though the
network settings have this activated etc.
I have tested the modem ok through OSX and all ok.

I got Virtual PC so that i could play games on my mac. When i tried to
play Guild Wars it said it could not initiate 3D output. How do i fix
