Demystified: Why doesn't VPC match the reported processor speed?02 Jan 2005 21:41 GMT1
One very frequent questions seems to be, why Virtual PC feels slower
than the speed that is reported by the system or some tools. So I
thought I'd try to give an a three part answer to that mystery.
1. Fixed reported speed:
3.5 Floppy can not change letter assigned02 Jan 2005 16:51 GMT2
When I start my VPC 7/Pro XP a floppy drive shows up as 3.5 Floppy (A:)
then when I add a USB macally 3.5 Floppy it places it in the B:
position.
How can I have my macally USB 3.5 Floppy at the A: position?  I tried

VPC 7.01, XP Home, Mac G5 Dual 2.0, 10.3.7, shared networking with my
DSL. It works pretty well. I can download pretty fast, and most web
sites come up in decent time. However, two questions.
This came with Service Pack 2, so the MS firewall is enabled. But so is

Has anyone installed the VPC7 UPGRADE with VPC5 w/DOS? I see where
others have used VPC6 FULL as the platform from which to upgrade, but I

What is third CD in VPC 7 box for?01 Jan 2005 01:05 GMT3
The VPC 7 box has two CDs called Installation CD and CD2. There is also
a third CD called additional "Windows System Files", which I do not
appear to have needed. I put it in the drive but nothing happened.
Anyone know what it is for or how to use it.
