VPC705 Nov 2004 01:11 GMT2
Am using a G5 Mac DP2.0 and 10.3.5. Have just loaded VPC7.0 with
Windows XP Pro. After opening Windows a note opens suggesting that I
load a virus detector. My DSL system works through a physical router.
Do I need a PC virus detector and spyware detector and do I need to
How to resize Virtual PC 7 Window?04 Nov 2004 14:11 GMT10
When I installed my VPC7, I was able to size the VPC window to any
size I wanted. I had to update the Additions though to fix another
problem. I did this and now I can't resize the window. So in other
words, I can go to full-screen, or cmd-enter to put VPC into a Window.

WinNT NIC driver from VPC5 to VPC703 Nov 2004 23:49 GMT3
Is there a NIC driver that can be used for a WinNT machine imported
from a VPC5 system to VPC7?
While VPC7 can import the VPC5 machine, WinNT still referrs to a
Network card (DEC something) which is not the same in VPC7 (Intel
Some programs won't start03 Nov 2004 20:29 GMT1
I just purchased VPC7 and everything was working well until I tried to
run certain installers, and run some programs.  When I double click on
the program to start it, it doesn't do anything!  When I cantinuosly
double click the program's icon (like 5 -10 consecutive times) it
DNS Server Not Available03 Nov 2004 18:41 GMT1
I am using Virtual PC 6.1 with Windows XP SP2 as the guest OS. I'm having
trouble connecting to the Internet from within the guest OS. It appears that
the DNS server XP acquires (192.168.131.252) is not available. I can,
however, connect to servers if I enter their IP address ...
Could journaling affect VPC speed?03 Nov 2004 18:11 GMT2
Apparently, by default, disks created with Panther are "journaled". This
"helps protect the file system against power outages or hardware
component failures, reducing the need for repairs."

Java and XP Pro03 Nov 2004 08:19 GMT3
I recently installed VPC 7 w/ XP Pro.  I don't know much about Windows
and need to activate Java or get it installed if it's not a part of
the standard  installation.  I have 2 programs that function via I.E.
and they use a menu in a pane on the left side of the main window.
Explorer and Virtual PC problems.03 Nov 2004 00:27 GMT4
Brief intro: I'm doing freelance work from home, and the data exchange
I'm doing requires Explorer 6 on a PC. I had to buy a used laptop to
do this, and the data exchange between it and my Mac is too laborious.
So, I bought VPC7, thinking that would solve the problem. But, when I
VPC 7 - Drag 'n Drop has stopped working02 Nov 2004 21:53 GMT1
OK, since I installed VPC 7 about a month ago I've had NO problems
dragging/dropping between my Mac and Windows XP. Today for some
reason, it's not working either way. I've rebooted the Virtual PC and
Mac several times, but it just won't work. Any hints?
2 users use same pc list02 Nov 2004 20:41 GMT1
Is there a way to allow 2 users use a pc list, but allow readonly for
one of the users.  I have tested this, but if I change the permissions
on the files from owner (rw) (read/write) and group (rw) (read/write)
to group(r) (readonly) then when the other user tries to use the pc
INSTALLING VIRTUALPC V702 Nov 2004 20:34 GMT4
Hi  I have version 6 of virtualpc which I ran on my iMac G3 with great
success.  I sold my iMac G3 and have just bought a new iMac G5.  If I buy
the virtualpc V7 UPGRADE ---- HOW DO I GO ABOUT INSTALLING IT? ( i.e. do I
have to install V6 first and then install upgrade or what? )
A few questions about Virtual PC 702 Nov 2004 02:05 GMT2
is it worth going about reducing the extra features of Windows XP to
increase the performance?
I have 1 GB of RAM on a Dual Processor G5. Is it better to run with
256 MB of RAM or 512 MB of RAM assigned to VPC?
VPC v 7 and anti-virus software01 Nov 2004 22:31 GMT13
Apologies if this is obvious -
I have installed VPC v7 on a G5, no problems.
But, do I need anti-virus and firewall software for the virtual
version of XP Pro?
