Installing Win2K and Win98 on VPC 727 Nov 2004 17:53 GMT7
My job requires supporting older systems running our custom software
over the phone.  I am trying to set up VPC7 with 2K & 98 so I can do
this from home instead of running to the office all the time.  I'm not
sure what I'm doing wrong, so here's the process I've been doing:
VPC 7.0.1 and TakeCommand26 Nov 2004 22:21 GMT1
Has anyone been able to run the current (v6) TakeCommand on
Virtual PC 7.0.1 (on Mac Os X 10.3.6)? It will install on
an admin account but then will not start as it wants to report
a problem to MicroSoft.
Serial Ports26 Nov 2004 19:45 GMT6
Can someone with Virtual PC experience let me know if there is a way to
support serial ports with it? My Mac only has USB but I know you can buy
serial to USB convertors. Anyone used them with Virtual PC to get a serial
port going?
Internet Access via a Proxy Server Problem26 Nov 2004 15:32 GMT10
I'm posting this here because the problem only arose after I installed VPC7.
Scenario pre VPC7 install:
PowerBook connected to corporate LAN with a web proxy set up in preferences,
with a account and password.  I could access Intranet & Internet, MacOS
Mac OS X crashes when I insert any "pc" disc (CD) into my superdrive26 Nov 2004 02:54 GMT4
I am using virtual PC 7.01 with Windows XP professional on a 12 inch
G4 Powerbook 1.33GHZ running OS X 10.3.6.
Current problem: When ever I insert a PC disk (CD) into my superdrive
OSX locks up and my screen goes black. This occurs even when I am not

VPC 7 does not see CD25 Nov 2004 02:56 GMT1
I am running VPC 7/XP on an iMac G5. I just bought a PC program on CD-ROM
and went to install it. The CD mounted (I saw it on the Mac desktop) but the
VM did not--I went to "My Computer" and clicked on the "D" (DVD) drive and
it said that I should insert a disk.
Installing older OS's and upgrading24 Nov 2004 20:35 GMT2
Can I install my full version of Windows 98 SE in Virtual PC 7 and
then upgrade it to Win XP pro since I have an upgrade copy of that?
? RELEASE OF VPC 7.0 UPGRADE DISC24 Nov 2004 18:21 GMT1
I have been using VPC 6.0 which will not work on my G5.
I have been waiting and waiting for the release of the VPC 7.0 Upgrade Disc,
to upgrade 6.X to 7.0
Any news or rumors on release date ??
VPC 7 and SuSE Linux 9.1 Personal Edition24 Nov 2004 18:04 GMT2
Just for fun, I thought I'd try installing a Linux distribution or two
on VPC 7 running on my 1.8 GHz iMac G5 17". The distro I chose was
SuSE Linux 9.1 Personal Edition.  It was a piece of cake - but there
are a few things you might want to try if you want to try the same...
Very slow login, SSH, FTP, SCP initiation after installed24 Nov 2004 17:18 GMT3
The problem I encountered with installing the full XP Pro version of Virtual
PC 7 on a G5 was a slowdown in connecting from ssh and scp (haven't tried
anything else system related.)
It doesn't matter if it is running- it seems to be something added when
Software access - Emulating PC on Mac23 Nov 2004 18:36 GMT3
I am interested in running a windows XP based firmware on Mac. I don't
think there would be any problem with VPC. But, I would also like to
run my other Mac based programs to communicate and  control the above
Firmware. Is this possible? What could the response times be? Any
Anti-virus23 Nov 2004 13:16 GMT8
Any idea if you can or how to install an anti-virus in VPC7/XP pro.
VPC6.1 not able to open progam23 Nov 2004 07:51 GMT4
Most CD programs are seen fine. But the main reason I purchased VPC
was to to run one program in particular (familiar story), the 2004
Basic and Clinical Science Course CD for my continuing education.
Anyway, the Mac can mount and open the CD fine to view the contents.
Moved the VPC folder and now it's all gone wrong.. 23 Nov 2004 02:22 GMT1
I moved the folder Virtual PC containing items 'Windows 2000.vpc6' and
'Previous Virtual PC 6' from Applications to a different folder. For a while
everything was okay, but after a while when I tried to open any folders,
files, etc. by clicking the desktop icons nothing happened - ...
