VPC 6.1.1 and USB Weird Issues22 Jul 2004 05:27 GMT2
I seem to find quite a few problems trying to use USB hardware on VPC.
Since I can't rung VPC on my G5 (sigh) I still have to use my G3
PwrBk/OSX 10.3.4.
I have had 2 specific problems, 1 of which I foung a work around.

How can I make a browser in the host environment (Mac OSX) find the
web pages running in the Virtual PC environment which is running
Windows XP Pro.  I currently have the shared networking option
enabled, but I can use the virtual if need be.  please help.

I have a Powermac G4 with 1.4 GHz  2MB L3 cache  and 1.25 GB SDRAM.  I
just installed Virtual PC  6.1.1  and am wondering how in the world to
make it perform faster!  The machine is at the office .  Currently I
use two computers --  the PC to use Microsoft Office and ACT!  (as the

I have been trying to get my Plantronics DSP 500 headset to work with my
Windows 2000 Pro Virtual PC 6.x setup and I just cannot get it to work.
I installed the software and driver per the instructions but every time
I run the PerSono software it tells me that the headset is not ...

Is there any way to change the amount of memory allocated to Virtual
PC? I am trying to install a program, Tradestation, which needs to see
at least 128mb of memory ti install itself. Virtual only shows 32mb.

This is probably simple, but I didn't know who else to ask.  When I
switched to Mac (recently) I now can't  use my scanner, digital
camera, etc.  Will getting Virtual PC allow me to run these things

Help! I'm trying to upgrade to Virtual PC 6.11 (from VPC 5 previously
VPC 3 and VPC 2), but I can't get my Win 95 drive image to successfully
launch. Usually what happens when I try to start Win 95 is that I get
the following message during boot-up:

a PC drive on my mac desktop (OSX 10.3.3). But when I try to set this
up in the VPC prefs > Drive 1, everything in that panel is greyed out.

I accidently used an install CD and attached product key twice and so
I now have dualing VPCs on my network.

that speed. But the top network speed for Virtual PC 6 is only 10 Mbps.

I have a mac g4 933 mhz with 1 gig of ram.
virtual pc is running win xp home with 256 mb allocated ram.
Explorer will freeze in windows update when pulling up critical files
update to be added. Then it says page could not be found.

Am I correct in thinking that in order to print something using a USB
connected printer on Mac OS X, you have to have the Virtual PC machine
USB settings turned off??  So you have to keep switching it on and
off, including restarting the entire Virtual PC each time??  (for

I'm currently working with Knoppix-STD, and while it boots and
operates under Virtual PC, it's not picking up the XServer
configuration correctly.  Has anyone made this work?  Does anyone know

My wife has been running VPC5 on a G3 iMac under Mac OS 9.2. with quite
usable performance.
She has now upgraded to a G4 iMac running Panther, and VPC5 is ridiculously
slow, less than 1/10 the speed she was getting under OS 9. (For example,
