Powerpoint 2008 wont let me import a flash file into Powerpoint 2008 for Mac reads: "not in a recognized movie format" -- seriously!!!???

When adding a slide transition - I get three choices: slow, medium, fast. The slow, however it far too fast for what I'm doing. How do I change this speed? I tried preferences, but find no way to do this?
