Airport forgets closed network name19 Mar 2008 18:05 GMT2
Is nobody else getting an exasperating intermittant problem of Airport
forgetting your "remembered" closed (unbroadcasted) network name (OS
10.5.2 macbook 17")? Of course my name is some hard to remember
gibberish, and to add insult to injury the "join other network" dialog
MACBook Notebook or Not?18 Mar 2008 15:49 GMT26
My wife would like a smaller laptop, say 15 inch screen or less (more
like 13.3) and light weights as she does a fair bit of travelling.   We
currently own an older Inspiron 1150.
I am a Intel guy myself. I haven't done any research at all so I thought
Strong wireless signal, no Internet access12 Mar 2008 05:47 GMT1
I'm using an iBook running 10.3.9.  Until recently I've had no trouble
connecting through open wireless networks.  In the last couple of
weeks, three networks that previously worked fine have failed to
connect me to the Internet.  In each case I get a strong network
G4 867 and classic ??10 Mar 2008 15:25 GMT2
i'd like to install classic to powerbook 867 12".
i know it shouldn't work by the book, so i would appreciate if there are
any experiences with this.. is it possible?
(according to apple's specs, it is first non-classic powerbook.)
Success! (Quickertek wireless PCMCIA card)08 Mar 2008 17:54 GMT1
Brief report.  It works.  Instructions are lousy.  Definitely picking
up networks my built-in Airport card wasn't, and so far in a couple of
hours of testing it's kept a solid connection.  Only minor
disappointment is that contrary to what the documentation says it
OS 9 Sleep06 Mar 2008 15:08 GMT2
Have a G4 Powerbook with OS 9.2.2.  Has recently refused to stay asleep
longer than 1-2 seconds when using the menu command.  Need suggestions
for resetting or troubleshooting.
Thanks, JB
iPhone: truncated podcasts05 Mar 2008 20:16 GMT1
For some reason, some of my podcasts on my iPhone 8GB just suddenly
stop mid-stream (sometimes 20 or 30 minutes into them), and when I
check to see the files, it looks like they really are truncated. Has
anyone else experienced this?
Any luck in repairing failing Powerbook wireless?05 Mar 2008 16:15 GMT8
The wireless in my two-year old powerbook G4 (bought just before the
Intels came out) is starting to get flakey.  It'll work fine for
awhile (no clear pattern in how long) and then shows a big drop-off in
signal (when a nearby mini is showing no change) and eventually won't
Display getting vertical bars?03 Mar 2008 17:18 GMT4
Got a 17" powerbook from a few years ago, and am getting more and more
vertical bars on the screen... like looking thru jailbars. Is there
anything I can unscrew and probe? Sending to a shop too inconvenient,
and anyway for a sick Toshiba I succeeded in fixing a known screen
