Ibook G4 problems...22 Nov 2007 19:33 GMT8
I feel like a stranger in a strange land here, but a friend has asked
me to have a look at his G4 ibook as he is having problems booting it
up. When it is switched on, there is a chime followed by a grey screen
with an apple logo in the middle, then after a few seconds the
PowerBook G4 hard drive (& possibly more) replacement?21 Nov 2007 13:52 GMT4
My (new to me) 1.33 GHz 15" G4 stared to buzz intermittently, more so
if I move it while it is running.  I imagine this is a warning sign
that the hard drive is getting ready to fail.
The current drive is a 55.89 GB TOSHIBA MK6025GAS. The G4 has 2GB ram,
update 15th of Dec and password17 Nov 2007 12:28 GMT3
after I "fixed" not being able to write DVDs by bying Toast 8 everything
with Leopard and my PB G4, 1,67 Ghz, seemed fine. Then last night's
update appeared and I installed it. Now I can get into the PB with the
usual password but anything that needs authentification does not
What to Do With Battery That Just Arrived14 Nov 2007 08:57 GMT5
I have a PowerBook G4 15" aluminum that is a bit over four years ago.  About
a week and a half ago, the battery began to appear to act a little erratically
(this is the second battery that I've had) according to coconutBattery, with
capacity dropping to about 75%.  Concerned that ...
PowerBook, Leo and DVD-Problem12 Nov 2007 22:17 GMT3
I installed Leopard on a 17" PowerBook, 1,67 Ghz, and it seemed that
almost everything was fine. Next I burned a CD. Still fine. But soon as
I tried to burn a DVD, I had a problem. A fair amount of warnings,
ending up with "result code 13780". I chucked Toast for the moment and
When will the 17" MBP get the LED-Backlit Screen?10 Nov 2007 23:08 GMT5
I need to replace my ageing G3 PowerBook with a new PowerBook. I had
expected to be able to do so this month but I was disappointed by
Tuesday's announcement of the new MacBook Pro models. It would seem
that the 15" now has a better screen than the 17" model. I know the
original ibook, 1024 by 768 possible?10 Nov 2007 01:19 GMT5
I have an original Ibook (the 1999 version), it is upgraded to 288
megs and I just plugged in an airport card. I was wondering if there
was any sort of software or hardware trick or hack to get the
resolution higher than 800 by 600? Also, I am running mac os 8.6 and

What are these ports used for on the MacBook Pro?  What can I hang on them?

However, my machine doesn't look like figure 2; i don't have those screws
Stupid question about PowerBook hard drive05 Nov 2007 17:43 GMT4
My PowerBook's hard drive has died, so i'm going to buy a new one. Are
laptop hard drives standardised, or do i need to find a model-specific
drive?
I have a 15" G4 PB, with an 80 GB drive, 5400 rpm i think. I can dig out a
How to clean a white iBook05 Nov 2007 06:21 GMT1
Thought I'd pass on some worldly wisdom that might spare you some
trouble. I just cleaned a very dirty white iBook G4. Never mind the
stupidity of designing a white computer in the first place. It's a bit
of built in obsolescence for ya.
