KB backlight sensor decouple29 Mar 2007 07:55 GMT9
Does anyone know if the keyboard backlight on the Powerbook can be
de-coupled from that infernal light sensor that "automagically" adjusts
the light intensity of the keyboard?
iBook power plug polarity27 Mar 2007 13:09 GMT1
Well, that's just part of the question.
First, some context. I have a Kensington universal car/air adapter for
my G4 iBook. That's what lets me plug my iBook into a car cigarette
lighter port, or an airplane seat port. In this Kensington adaptor,
Original Powerbook G3 aka Kanga, 3500 and WiFi27 Mar 2007 09:44 GMT8
I have an original Powerbook G3 aka Kanga or 3500. It has 96m RAM
and runs MacOS 9.1. I would like to use it with WiFi.
I've read the usual pages and tried several cards. One is a WaveLan
silver (aka ORiNOCO) that works on several other powerbooks, from a
when is next processor upgrade for MacBook Pro?16 Mar 2007 08:45 GMT3
It is time to upgrade my G4 PowerBook -firewire 800. I am on my 3rd

My question is: how many times per year does Apple upgrade the processor
speed and other basic component specs of the top of the line $2500 15"
new ipod shuffle help?16 Mar 2007 00:59 GMT1
I hope this is the correct group, I apologize if it is not.  My
daughter just recieved a new small clip type shuffle.  We have an
older g3 mac 500 mgz running 10.2.8.  The itunes will not recognize
the new shuffle.  I have tried to look at the apple site and it shows
software update clobbers airport13 Mar 2007 06:22 GMT3
This is the most exasperating part of owning a Mac laptop (with 10.3.9
software using certain security settings).
You download a regular update offered by Apple, then it prompts you to
reboot. Do that and your airport is dead. No amount of turning airport
IRISPEN09 Mar 2007 10:05 GMT2
I was given an IRISPEN as a gift.  I think it is a great idea if the
darn thing will work.  I installed it on my Titanium G4 PowerBook that
is running Mac OS 9.2.2.  When I activate the IRISPEN application I get
the message that the IRISPEN is unplugged and there is no driver for
Replacing HD in Lombard06 Mar 2007 05:27 GMT2
I feel a headache looming...
Will a 20 gig HD from a 550 Powerbook work in a 333 Lombard?
I know there might be an ATA version issue with the Lombard, but somebody has
tried this, I'm sure.
Powerbook 1400 won't start, PM reset doesn't help...05 Mar 2007 18:23 GMT9
I've been enjoying the old Powerbook 1400, but it keeps dying on me.
Now it won't restart up at all. I've googled the issue and found that a
fix is to reset the Power Manager on the back of the machine.
So, I reset the PM a few times and it worked a few times. Now that
Wireless card for 1400cs?04 Mar 2007 00:28 GMT2
Someone just gave me a 1400cs with a Cruise Card in it.
Finally figured out how to pop the X-Jack out and plug
the dang thing into the wall...
Which cards will work with this machine to go wireless?
Battery worsens...02 Mar 2007 06:42 GMT5
I've had my 12" PowerBook G4 (1.5 GHz, 512 Mb RAM) for about two
years, and just recently the battery has been acting quite strangely.
When I run on battery-only, after about 40 minute (varies quite widely
though), the computer will shut off completely (not sleep, and the
