PowerBook G4 17" Screen Upgrade26 Feb 2007 19:46 GMT1
I have a 1GHz PowerBook G4 17" with a 1440x900 screen. I notice that
later versions had a 17" 1680x1050 screen (Apple Part. 661-3764), and
from pictures of it removed from a PowerBook it looks the same as the
1440x900 screen, right down to the hinges and cables. If I was able to
Bizarre Airport Problem26 Feb 2007 03:34 GMT3
have two machines on an Airport Express in my house connected to a
cable modem.  I rarely have any problems with the connection and when I
do, a simple reboot of the cable modem/airport/computer fixes it.
Tonight I came home and my work computer (Powerbook G4 OS 10.4.8)
Would a 20GB motherboard work with a 60GB iPod?24 Feb 2007 23:12 GMT2
Subject says it all; I have a 60GB hard drive that I'd like to put
together with a 20GB board. I do have the appropriate sized back
plate
which would fit the larger drive "innards" but wondered whether there
iBook Hinge, help24 Feb 2007 00:56 GMT2
Hi portable people,
Old iBook came in from the cold, and was very reluctant to physically open
farther than 45 degrees.
Is there anything I can safely do?

Hi.  My friend's macintosh laptop won't fully boot.
Any ideas about what can be done?
One day, my friend was using Safari and the computer crashed.

PB Ti HD not sleeping ?19 Feb 2007 14:54 GMT1
With help from this group I installed a replacement internal HD in PB G4
Ti 1GHz. Thank you again.
All seems well but two questions for those more knowledgeable.
1. My new drive (Hitachi Travelstar) seems to never spin down completely
g4 screen--how to remove shadow picture box18 Feb 2007 21:44 GMT4
I used to have a picture on the screen of my g4 17" laptop. I no longer want
it there and reset the background to a plain blue color. But the place where
the picture used to be has left a dark blue "shadow" box on the screen. It's
been like this for months. I can't figure out how to ...
Powerbook G4 Ti hard drive replacement15 Feb 2007 20:53 GMT6
Think my hard drive is done. :-(
Is there a "best" drive manufacturer and is there a preferred size for
this model (PB Ti G4 1GHz)? On one site, some of the drives are called
"super slim" so didn't know if there was more than one size that fit
Lombard won't sleep on closing13 Feb 2007 04:24 GMT3
I replaced a broken hinge and now Lombardi won't go to sleep when I shut the
lid.  I tried changing the inverter board and resetting the power manager. I was
wondering exactly where the reed switch is and if there might be something I
haven't tried.
Replace PB G4 Ti drive ?s12 Feb 2007 19:24 GMT5
Replacing the hard drive in a Powerbook G4 Ti 1GHz.
Any reason not to just follow the PB G4 Ti instruction manual on how to
replace the hard drive?
Any additional tips from those who have done this?
PB G4 keyboard light always on?10 Feb 2007 23:54 GMT2
The keyboard light in my 15" 1.67GHz Powerbook G4 is neat, but it's
frustrating at times when the sensor can't decide if the ambient light
is sufficient or not and because of this turns itself on an off
constantly, depending on where my fingers happen to be when I'm
Random clicking10 Feb 2007 03:11 GMT4
I have an iBook G4, and lately while I'm using some applications I hear
random, rapid clicking sounds.  They're similar to the sound that
Windows makes when you switch pages in Explorer.  I hear it even if I
turn the volume down all the way, so I don't think it's actually a sound ...
PB G4 Ti Crash help ?09 Feb 2007 21:36 GMT7
Realized after posting this in comp.sys.mac.system that this is perhaps
the correct newsgroup. Sorry for the double post.
This oldie who hasn't experienced a hard drive crash before could use
some help. Thanks much in advance.
