iBook 500 MHz G3 - does not start at all - what to do?31 Jan 2007 22:24 GMT14
I have an iBook 500 MHz G3 that ran without problems until last week.
Now when I press the power-on button, nothing happens at all (no sounds,
no light, no noises), even when pressing for 10 seconds.
The battery is full.

I have a Powerbook PowerPC G4 1.5 GHz with 10.4.8 and the latest

Configuring the mackbook pro trackpad30 Jan 2007 21:29 GMT3
I just bought a Macbook Pro, 15", and the trackpad is driving me nuts.
Specifically, the inertia like behavior, where you have to move your
finger fast to get the pointer to move greater distances, is really
annoying me. Is there a way to disable or at least reduce the level of

BROKEN BOTTOM- 12" POWERBOOK24 Jan 2007 03:47 GMT1
Hello! any word on how to get the bottom part off a 12" powerbook. I
have dropped my computer before and a blacksmith repaired it with a
rubber hammer in less than a minute! Now the charger part is
unaccesible, and I should take it apart before the smith will agree to
iBook took 5 minutes to reboot23 Jan 2007 20:01 GMT6
Whenever I reboot or power up my iBook (OS 10.4.8, 900MHz G3, 512MB
RAM), it literally took about 5 minutes to reboot before I finally can
use it. Enabling the verbose mode does not give it a clue because the
first 4 minutes of it is just a lit up screen with the Apple logo and
battery in PB G3 Pismo23 Jan 2007 17:12 GMT1
my (about two year old) battery for my PBG3 Pismo goes from 100% to 70%
and then drops to 0%! It charges normally from 0% to 100% in a linear
fashion. Any ideas about the drop?

Mounting/unmounting external firewire drives23 Jan 2007 05:31 GMT6
What is the correct procedure of mounting, unmounting, powering up and
off an external firewire hard-drive connected to a Powerbook G4?
I store a lot of files on the external drive, but I don't need to
access it all the time, so now and then I drag the drive to the

The long beep19 Jan 2007 14:00 GMT5
What is going on when I power up my Powerbook G4 Titanium and it gives
off a long beep and the indicator light flickers?  This may happen a
few times before I get it to boot up.
How to fix a dead PowerBook battery ?15 Jan 2007 08:59 GMT15
My PowerBook (G4 Gigabit EN) original battery ended its useful life last
January after 4-1/2 years of good service. Remaining capacity 700mAh,
down from the original 3900mAh.
So I purchased a replacement one from AboutBatteries.com (Apple parts
Left & right mouse buttons on a Powerbook14 Jan 2007 22:07 GMT15
I'm working with an application under X11 and it describes various
functions using a right mouse-click and a left mouse-click.
So, on a Powerbook G4 with a trackpad and one mouse-button, is that a
right or left click, and what do I do to get the other button?
Replacement HD for Lombard-recommendations?12 Jan 2007 01:29 GMT3
Anyone have any suggestions on a good replacement hard drive for a G3 (Lombard)
PowerBook? I'm slowly turning my old Lombard into a backup OS X machine and I
need something bigger than the installed 6 GB.
Probably something in the 60 to 80 GB range would work...
keyboard dies09 Jan 2007 04:31 GMT3
Powerbook G4 17" (last model before intel).
Anyhow sometimes after leaving the keyboard idle -- either leaving the
system alone completely or doing something that only uses mouse commands
the keyboard is not recognized and when I try to shut down the machine,
