Airport card questions29 Jun 2006 17:47 GMT3
Hey all, I installed an Airport Extreme card into my iBook G4 about a
month ago, and I've noticed when I'm out and about very often I can pick
up stray signals; they're almost always very intermittent however, even
when I'm stationary--is that everyone's usual experience?  Often ...
Safari speed problem29 Jun 2006 01:40 GMT1
I have an frustrating problem with Safari on my 17" 1Gig running 10.4.6.
When I use it on my home or office network either wired or wireless, no
problem with response and download time.  For that matter, never a
problem on any network but one.
MacBook Pro does not like planes?28 Jun 2006 10:07 GMT8
Hi, I know that it sounds crazy, but my MacBook Pro does not seem to
like planes... Since I bought it, I have tried four times to use it on
an airplane. In every case, it somehow seems to loose connection to the
internal hard disk. If I put the machine to sleep before boarding and
iBook losing audio channel25 Jun 2006 16:04 GMT2
Wondering if anyone else has experienced an inexplicable loss of one of
their audio channels on a late-model iBook? It has only happened a few
times, but strange. I plug in headphones or speakers and only get sound
out of one side, unplug them and there's nothing coming from the
iBook blue screen23 Jun 2006 22:15 GMT1
I keep getting a blue screen shortly after boot up on my
two month old 12" G4 iBook(OS10.4.6). Sometimes the
Desktop reappears after a few seconds, other times I
have to do a hard restart. I've scanned the HD for faults,

Repair lifetime of an iBook19 Jun 2006 19:59 GMT7
Anyone have a ballpark idea for how long Apple maintains
the capability to repair old machines?  My 4 year old
iBook G3 700 still seems to be beating the odds given the
notorious failures to which this model is susceptible and

Ti 500 LCD problem18 Jun 2006 22:11 GMT1
I have a PB Ti 500 that the screen is very dark. The only way I can see
what's even on it is to hold a flashlight right up against the screen.
I have now replaced the motherboard, the inverter card and the LCD. I
have a new PMU on the way as well. I know it isn't the backlight bulb
Macbook Graphics16 Jun 2006 03:59 GMT1
Any first hand feedback on how well the Macbooks (non-pro)handle themselves
(especially graphics)?
HELP!14 Jun 2006 22:03 GMT10
Before I begin, let me say that I'm not knowledgeable about the
macintosh paradigm.  I bought the powerbook about 4 years ago
because OSX is based upon Mach and freeBSD.  Knowing that will help
you to comment in ways that I can understand.

Buy a Macbook now?13 Jun 2006 05:58 GMT19
I'm looking into buying a Macbook (not pro) for personal and school
use.  The issues with the "Pro" scared me, though.  Would you recommend
waiting to see if problems are discovered with the regular Macbook?  Do
they (Apple) announce when said issues are fixed? (Hardware revisions
My Lombard good for another six years :)09 Jun 2006 10:01 GMT10
You would not believe what I went through to save my six year old
Lombard powerbook from the scrap heap.
My main reason for upgrading the Lombard from OS-8.6 to OSX was to get
away from the Internet Explorer browser, which Mac versions are no
