I just bought my parents a used Panther iBook to upgrade them from an
old OS9 G3 Kanga.  What's the fastest way for us to transfer useable
files to the iBook?  (The Kanga is pre-Firewire and pre-USB; I do have
an old external scsi CD burner for it, if I can remember how to work ...
Putting my old internal ibook G4 HD in my vst firewire enclosure.05 Mar 2006 15:06 GMT3
I just replaced the 30 gig int. HD in my G4 w/ a Hitachi 80 g 7200 HD.
Let me tell you this HD is sweet. It was a trip replacing it, but well
worth it. Anyway, I would like to put the org. drive in my vst firewire
ext. enclosure but it already has a 6g drive in it.

'Running on fumes'02 Mar 2006 19:16 GMT6
I have a question posed by an iBook user friend.
His HDD is virtually full (around 1gb left) and his 80gb external drive
is filling too. He uses the machine to write memos, send email and play
music. He also keeps a lot of photos too.
PB17 (1.67GHz) screen as bright as Cinema Display 20"?02 Mar 2006 16:52 GMT7
I am helping a friend with a new PowerBook G4 17" 1.67GHz (he needed a
17" screen and he's not ready for early adopter hardware) and we're
trying to figure out if the screen is as bright as it is supposed to
be.  He is fortunate to have ample light in his office, and his current
USB hub powered by FireWire port?02 Mar 2006 02:05 GMT5
Does anyone make a powered 4-port USB hub that receives its power from
the FireWire port? That would seem to be a way to make a very
compact/portable powered hub for most Mac systems.

USB video capture devidce01 Mar 2006 17:53 GMT2
Can anyone tell me if any of the myriad of USB video capture devices on
ebay would work on a G4 1GHz ibook? I just want something to put NTSC
composite video onto a disk file on the ibook for later viewing.
I only found one listed as Mac compatible and it was not campatible
batteries01 Mar 2006 05:29 GMT4
I forgot to post this query in my previous post.
My friend's iBook is always plugged into the mains - it's his office
machine, if he needs to take files home he uses his iPod. Should he
remove the batteries?
