Seeking floppies for System 7.0 or 7.131 Jan 2006 23:52 GMT2
Dear Mac devotees,
I have a Mac SE, an older toaster-style Mac. I seek to install Clarisworks
4.0 (which I have), but Clarisworks 4.0 requires System 7.0 or System 7.1
. Presently, the SE has an early version of System 6.
British Airways Business Class; what powerpoint?31 Jan 2006 23:41 GMT1
Hi there
Has anyone flown BA Business recently, and could you tell me what power
set up I am likely to need to connect my Powerbook. The BA website just
says there are 'laptop powerpoint and cables' by each seat. Last time I
imic recording to iBook from turntable31 Jan 2006 12:33 GMT7
When I record from the preamp out to the iMic to the iBook G4, the
sound is fine. However, using the direct turntable connection, with EQ
selected in FinalVinyl, the sound is terrible. Very loud background
noise, which analysis with my electrical engineer cousin showed was not
Can 15" PowerBook Play European DVD's?30 Jan 2006 23:35 GMT5
My daughter recently brought back a DVD from Germany. Its label has the standard
"DVD Video" logo, plus a "PAL 2;4" emblem. Before opening it, we want to
determine if we can play it on our American equipment. A quick internet search
makes it look like it will not display properly ...
Powerbook prices?30 Jan 2006 18:10 GMT6
What is the likelihood that the price(s) of the current powerbooks will drop
when the new "Macbook Pro"'s start being delivered?
Right now the 15" models are priced exactly the same -- and yet unless you
are willing to pay something for Classic compatability I can see no reason
60 hz hum from "noise cancelling" headphones 30 Jan 2006 14:45 GMT9
My wife got a Kensington Noise Canceling headphone set
for Christmas.  Strangely, in use there is considerable 60 Hz
hum, which kind of ruins things when one is listening to audio
which has quiet passages.
Audio out of iPod Shuffle USB port30 Jan 2006 09:27 GMT2
Does anybody know how the Griffin TuneBuds manage to get audio out of
the Shuffle without plugging into the headphone port?
I want to make a really neat installation for my Shuffle in my car.
Specifically, I don't want to have to put the iPod in a cradle and then
iBook G4 & OSX Server28 Jan 2006 18:11 GMT5
Actually, two questions here. I just picked up a Western Digital
external 80GB USB drive at Costco. Haven't opened it yet, so
I can still return it without any problems if I'm not able to
use it as an external drive and boot from it.
Pismo refuses to wake up28 Jan 2006 01:34 GMT5
From a few days my pismo refuses to boot ..... when I press the startup
button I can hear the hard drive spinning and then nothing more ....
black screen ....  I have tried a reset but no success ...
Yesterday I succeeded to boot and working for the whole day. But today
Key popped off AlBook -- help replacing?27 Jan 2006 19:41 GMT5
A dumb, simple question.  My small dog managed to pop my "page up" key
off the keyboard by walking on it (don't ask).  I can see exactly how it
needs to go back on, but can't get it to work.  Has anyone had any luck
with this, and can you give me tips?  Tools that'll help?
Durability of PowerBook vs. iBook?27 Jan 2006 17:13 GMT7
Yes, I've dug through the archives and found some comments, but not many, on
the topic, and most are several years old so I don't know if they are
current.
I'm in the market for a Mac laptop and want to get one before I'd be forced
2 day old powerbook with adapter problem27 Jan 2006 10:08 GMT4
I proudly bought a new powerbook g4 1,67Mhz a couple of days ago and
I allready have a adapter problem (the adapter that came with the
PBook).
While using and loading it at the same time yesterday, the light just
crazy trackpad or keyboard?26 Jan 2006 18:38 GMT3
I have a 12" powerbook with a consistent problem...as I type, the
cursor intermittently jumps to another spot on the screen and of course
my text gets all garbled. Sometimes (like in Mail) the program opens a
new message window and the second half of my text is in a new message
Protective padding for 15" Powerbook26 Jan 2006 17:44 GMT8
I've got a G4 Powerbook (the latest model, currently available) and
bought a nice Crumpler bag which has a "pouch" that for the laptop
itself. It's great!
But the material is a bit "rough" and I'm afraid that in time the
Powerbook 15" Third Party RAM Crash26 Jan 2006 00:41 GMT2
Hi, I've got a 1.67GHz 15" G4 powebook (PowerBook5,8), and have
replaced the 512MB samsung RAM with 2x1GB Simpletech RAM,
STA-PWBK533/1GB, and the system consistently freezes / crashes anywhere
from 20mins to 2 hours into operation.
