Two ipods - one PC20 Nov 2005 07:44 GMT9
I have an iPod that I have installed the software to my PC. I have my
own music library etc...
Now my girlfriend wishes to get an iPod too. Does anybody know whether
I can connect her iPod to the same machine? I wasn't sure what the
Wallstreet: Fan and Green LED, nothing else!19 Nov 2005 14:13 GMT5
My Wallstreet laptop has become decidely recalcitrant! It won't start.
If I plug it in, the fan and the green LED light come on and stay on.
No chime. Nothing else happens. I suspected the PMU and I replaced the
PMU board but this has had no effect. The PRAM battery has power. Right
Duo/Zip combo no longer happy18 Nov 2005 20:15 GMT3
I'm running an old 100MB Zip drive to a coal-fired Powerbook Duo 2300c
with Mini-dock and OS 8. I've been running this combo as a portable
wordprocessor for years, but now when I boot up, I immediately get a
large SCSI symbol with the numeral "2" inside it. This comes up before
ipod to hd?17 Nov 2005 20:23 GMT11
How do you transfer an mp3 back onto your hard drive *from* the ipod?
It seems like there must be some way to do this, but I've had no luck
figuring it out so far.
Is the iPod usable while charging?17 Nov 2005 05:37 GMT2
I don't see any kind of AC adaptor for the iPod, so I was wondering if
it was possible to use it while it's connected to the charger, so that
it can run continuously?
New G4 iBook charging problem17 Nov 2005 02:15 GMT2
Summary: I have a G4 1.3GHz less than a week old.  Just now after leaving
it to charge overnight I found it extremely hot, the fan was going, and
when I opened the case it failed to respond until I power cycled,
whereupon it restarted normally.
Modem error/crossed connection?16 Nov 2005 19:35 GMT2
Yes, yes, I am a Luddite who not only still uses dial-up to check email
from home, but is still using an original TiBook 400 mHz.  That said, I
have recently been having tremendous difficulty connecting, with constant
modem errors.  Usually if I keep trying to connect I'll ...

I am upgrading my Pismo Powerbook G3/500 Mhz and just got a firewir

What is wrong with this Lombard?14 Nov 2005 04:27 GMT3
Quiz question...
I traded out some mac support for a Lombard, the specs are as follows:
333Mhz, 320MB Ram, 4GB HD, CD, Apple Battery. Very little use of this
unit, very clean.
dying PRAM battery?14 Nov 2005 03:20 GMT3
I'm noticing a few things on restart on a 39-month-old powerbook - the
screen brightness parameter keeps changing, and the volume resets. I've
also noticed a few other anomalies during day to day operation and am
wondering if this could be the death of a PRAM / backup battery? The
How Do I Force-Eject a CD ?13 Nov 2005 23:30 GMT2
When I inserted a CD into my 15" PB (10.3.7), it failed to mount.  When
the desktop Icon failed to appear, I opened Disk Utility which simply
hung.    I was left with a spinning disk in the combo-drive and no GUI
way to eject it.  Fortunately, restarting the PB produced a desktop ...
Wallstreet 266 USB problems13 Nov 2005 20:59 GMT2
I have a Powerbook G3 Wallstreet 266Mhz, 160MB RAM, DVD, OS 9.1.  I
recently replaced my USB PC card that stopped working after about 2
years.  The new USB card is a Dynex 2 port USB 2.0.  My problem is
that anytime I plug even just one device into it I get a message
iBook (OS X) asks for password twice after waking13 Nov 2005 16:07 GMT3
My iBook has started asking for my password twice when waking up from
sleep mode.
I enter it the first time and the screen flickers and goes immediately
back to the password screen. I know I'm entering the correct password.

I am getting ready to travel to London, and want to take my iBook g4
with me.  Travelling on a Boing 777-200 both ways.
What is the best way to have power on the plane, as well as in London?
Should I get a 12v power supply for the plane, and Apples foreign plug
Dumb iPod question10 Nov 2005 17:00 GMT10
Any iPods that are both Mac and PC compatible?
I can pick up an iPod relatively inexpensively at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club, but
they say they are for Windows.
Any reason I can't pick up one of those and use it with a Mac?
