cracked LCD screen30 Jun 2005 23:11 GMT8
I somehow cracked the LCD screen on my 4th generation 20G iPod.  Does
anyone know if Apple will cover this under warranty and fix it for me,
or will they charge me to get it fixed?  It is only 6 months old and I
am not sure why it broke so easily, it wasn't dropped or anything.
Wallstreet hot-swap problems30 Jun 2005 22:27 GMT6
Got a Wallstreet PB with a CD-R/RW and a Zip100 drive which USED TO BE
"hot-swappable".  Now, if I change drives, the PB locks up until I
replace the drive it had in the bay at last startup (or restart).
Everything else seems to work OK, and this isn't a major problem... but

Need some advice regarding viruses (if any)28 Jun 2005 07:24 GMT2
I am not a Mac user (have used Linux for a very long time and am not
looking to switch). However, a member of my family was recently in the
market for a laptop. Her choices were between the numerous wintel laptops,
HP's Linux laptop and due to my prodding, a Mac ibook G4.

PB180c - SCSI disk mode??27 Jun 2005 15:43 GMT17
My PB180c is on its last legs, and I'd like to get the useful files off the
disk. It seems like the best way to do this is by connecting the machine to
my old desktop Mac via a SCSI connection.
I do have the special cable that's needed for SCSI disk mode.  What I no
Any way to boost the iBook's speaker volume?26 Jun 2005 23:31 GMT2
Is there an app or plug that will boost the audio volume for an iBook a
little?  Watching DVD's with the level all the way up on both the menu
bar and the DVD player still isn't quite loud enough for my hearing.
Or something like VolumeLogic (works for iTunes) for the DVD player ...

Using iBook as PC -- with laptop closed24 Jun 2005 17:14 GMT4
I'd like to run my iBook as a desktop computer with a monitor connected
and using USB keyboard and mouse -- but I have little desk space so I'd
like to maybe have the LCD display on iBook turned off and clam-shell
case closed.

Powerbook noisier on AC adapter24 Jun 2005 13:37 GMT2
My powerbook 1.5 aluminium makes quite a bit of noise from the
circuitry/memory/processor when set to Highest in processor performance
and running Classic. The noise is loud enough to be annoying. It's like
the electronic noise you get from memory but I think it comes from the
Powerbook 160 to internet22 Jun 2005 20:33 GMT5
Could someone point me to the direction (right?/left?) as to how I
could connect to the internet with my Powerbook 160? It works pretty
well, and it seems that at its prime someone was using Compuserve to go
online. I have access to bellsouth and att dialup. Someone told me once
Charge indicator light on AC adapter cord21 Jun 2005 07:15 GMT1
After 18 months of faithful service, the light at the plug end of the AC
adapter on rmy trusty 17" PB started to blink. It seems to be related to
how the plug seats in the PB. When the light is out I believe the cord
is still doing its work (according to the menubar indicator).
