Hi all. I think my Combo drive in my snowy iBook is kaput. It reads,
but seems to be unable to write. I've done the usual clean installs,
tried multiple OS versions (from 9 to 10.3.9), zapped, reset the nvram,
and so on.

I am currently working with an old Apple Powerbook 140 (something my
wife used years ago). I would like to get the files off the hard drive.
This unit worked well a several years ago when I turned it off for the
last time.

A friend of mine has a TiBook and the firewire port has gone amuck, It's
already destroyed the firewire capabilities of several external drives. The
question is, can the port be replaced, and if so, at what cost? I've googled
around and haven't been able to find an answer.

I have a powerbook g4 ti 400 mhz with a screen that is dark.  In
bright light you can see the desktop.  Starts and restarts fine.
tried adjusting the brightness; but it does not increase.  The
question is is it the backlight or the inverter? Anyone have any

I have a Mac PowerBook G3 Lithium Ion battery Model M7318 that won't
hold more than 10 minutes charge. Is it possible to have new cells put
into it? If so, can anyone tell me what kind of cells it needs?
One possible supplier has asked "Does your battery contain 18650

Well, somehow I broke the plus key on my powerbook. Does anyone know
where I can get replacement keys? The underlying post appears to be
unbroken, it's just the key itself.

I have a white 12" iBOok, and under the keyboard, on either side of the
mouse pad area, it's starting to get alittle dirty due to my palms and
lots of use.  My ergonomic keyboard on desktop does the same, but I can
clean it with alcohol pads every so often and the dirt and stuff ...

MY Brother was a terrible alcoholic until 6 months or so ago when he decided

Since installing 10.4 (& updating to 10.4.1) I've noticed that my fan
runs almost continuously on my PowerBook G4 15".  Is the new system
taxing the processor that much more or is the software that turns the

Absolutely hate the way my new Ipod sounds in the car over the Belkin
wireless transmitter.  Not enough volume, files made from albums or tapes
distort, and I have to change the station every 10 miles (which, I'm told,
would happen with ITrip, too).  

The LG DVD/CD ROM Module mechanism in my Pismo PowerBook died and I was
able to obtain a Matsushita mechanism. It works okay, but the end bezel
on the LG unit does not fit the Matsushita mechanism. The release

Anyone know how I may be able to turn my laptop into a secondary
display for my desktop?  trying to get more monitor space without going
out to buy a secondary monitor - i've got a G4 titanium i'd love to be
able to use.  

My wife doesn't like using computers, I use linux and can load the ipod for
her (GTKPOD or Itunes with Crossover Office) but am thinking of getting her
a Mac laptop, that she can just throw her cds in and rip music tracks for
her Ipod.
