I've decided to buy a 15" Powerbook, but having followed discussions
here and there I understand that even the latest models are getting a
bit old and long in the tooth, having basically had the same design for
several years now.

I just got an Ipod and have put some albums into my itunes on my pc. I
added this music to my ipod. Now I want to delete some of the music
off of my PC to save room on my hard drive. Problem is when I plug the
ipod back to the pc, the music erased from my pc will automatically be

Do any of you know of any better or worse compatibility track record for
VirtualPC running any of Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98 or NT 4.0? (That is
to say "compatability" in the sense of being able to run any arbitrary
program that runs under a real PC running that same OS.)

Can I start up from an external USB 2 HD or only from one with firewire

I have a G3 800 iBook running 10.3
The problem:
Apps take a LONG time to start. Once an app is started, it runs ok,
pretty normally. Switching between apps is slow, but not unbearable.

I just picked up a working PB190CS. It has 8MB of RAM, a 500MB hard
drive, a floppy, and OS7.5.5. It's my first laptop.
After hours of googling, I've found several sources for RAM to get to
the max of 40MB (monstrously expensive!). I've found nothing I can

I'm currently trying to decide between a 15 and 17 inch powerbook.
Does the 17 inch powerbook still have the problem where the keyboard
"rubs" the display when closed, unless you stick in the piece of
plastic it shipped with to protect the display every time you close it

I have a home wireless setup with two laptops that move from room to
room. I'd love to have a (large) hard drive connected to the network. Is
this possible at all?

I have read that I cannot start my ibook G4 up from an external usb 2
hd, and that it is possible to do this only from a external firewire hd.
Is that so?
