| Pismo problem- sound/AC card, etc | 12 Apr 2005 00:18 GMT | 2 |
I have a Pismo PB, the problem that started it off was a faulty AC connector on the sound card. Well, the connector was fine actually, it just broke off 2 of the 3 contacts. I find this is not an uncommon occurance. So, using the pbfixit.com step by step guide, I took the

Having been thinking about it for months I am about to take the plunge into the Mac world - probably with an iBook 12" (although it may be worth waiting a few weeks to get a Tiger in my tank?) Can anybody help me with the following:

| wait for pb with tiger? | 10 Apr 2005 13:29 GMT | 3 |
Rumors are floating around that Tiger will be released on April 15th. The intel seems kinda solid from what I'm reading, but who knows. My question is, assume the rumor is true for the moment. Does that mean all of Apple's hardware line instantly switches to Tiger as well? When ...

I bought a 12" iBook a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It is so much faster than my trusty G3 B&W. Unfortunately the video resolution is 1027*768 at max, also when using external screens. I found a piece of software called "Screen Spanning

| Good Time to Buy a Powerbook? | 10 Apr 2005 04:11 GMT | 11 |
I am thinking about buying a Powerbook G4 to replace my Sony Vaio. Probably the 15" Combo. My history of buying things, not just computers, is that within 48 hours a new model is available and the one I bought is obsolete.

My pb titanium g4 is about 2 years old. Just in the last week i started noticing that when i wake it up, even when it not off but running the screensaver, large areas of the screen are dark - kind of a reddish brown color - that gradually returns to normal after about 5-10

| sleeping powerbook won't wake | 06 Apr 2005 19:18 GMT | 2 |
I've got a 1GHz G4 17" Powerbook running 10.3.7 (I don't think I upgraded to 10.3.8, but maybe my wife did ) that all suddenly went to sleep while I was downloading a large file (it wasn't anywhere near done). It shouldn't have gone to sleep because I was actively using it... ...

I recently bought an external 3.5" 40 GB hard drive to use with my ibook g4. I use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a backup of the ibook onto this external drive. I choose the option in CCC to "make bootable". After making the backup, I specify it to be the Startup Drive then

| Running from a portable hard drive? | 04 Apr 2005 22:45 GMT | 3 |
I have a 12" Powerbook around a year and a half old. It has a 4,500 rpm hard drive, which I perceive to be a bottleneck in terms of speed. Could I install the OS, all of my programs, and move all of my data to a 7,200 rpm Firewire hard drive, and run the whole thing off that?

| Old PowerBook G3 m3553 problems | 04 Apr 2005 17:48 GMT | 1 |
I recently was given a PowerBook G3 m3553, and it will not turn on. I'm using an AC adapter (the black old kind) as I assume the battery is shot. When I plug it in, it doesn't do anything. The speakers make a very faint static sound. Holding the power button on the keyboard doesn't ...
