games for my bronze powerbook running OS X24 Apr 2005 16:05 GMT2
I have a bronze powerbook running OS X. Does anybody have any
suggestions as far as games that run and play well(any genre) for this
setup? Preferably something that doesn't absolutely require a mouse
though. Seems like most newer games for OS X just don't want to run well

Advice: best case for new Powerbook 15"?22 Apr 2005 10:23 GMT10
I've been carrying my lovely new Powerbook around in a zipped shoulderbag,
but that's proving to be a somewhat less than optimal solution. However, an
initial look at purpose made cases has shown a confusing range of
alternatives - some pretty expensive!

PB 12" fan/temperature21 Apr 2005 02:42 GMT2
People have noted for months that the 12" PBs seem to run their fans just
about continuously.  Having just bought a 12" I can verify this claim.
:-)  I am not interested in finding ways to turn the fan off, which seems
to be a common desire.  My interest is in knowing whether ...
Interesting legal question20 Apr 2005 18:11 GMT5
When you sell a computer, are you legally obligated to erase all the
commerical software off that computer?  People almost never do, and I was
just wondering how this is generally viewed?  It's not just a matter of
bending the law, I'm honestly not even sure what the strictest ...
TechTool & DiskWarriar Boot Problems in 10.3.920 Apr 2005 12:03 GMT3
Just a reality check has anyone else here experienced problems with
using TechTools Pro 4.0.3 or DiskWarrior 3.02 after upgrading to OS X
10.3.9 on an AL 1.66 PowerBook? Since I upgraded from 10.3.8, I'm no
longer able to boot from either TechTool Pro or DiskWarrior CD --
G3 Pismo/Mac Mini Compatability?20 Apr 2005 07:00 GMT3
Would it be possible to use a G3 Powerbook as monitor and keyboard for a Mac
Mini and how would one set that up.  I'm looking for a portable recording
solution and the G3 (Pismo) I am currently using isn't quite up to the task,
I can't afford a G4 powerbook and a traditional ...

Never thought it would happen but the local phone company is going to
try to get DSL out to my waaaay rural location. If they succeed and I
want to get wireless access going for the 4 computers in the house,
what do I need? Do I need to dedicate one computer to serve as a base
Quick question; Larger HD = lower battery life?19 Apr 2005 03:14 GMT2
Apologies for barging into this group like this, but I'm thinking of
getting a new I book, and was hoping to upgrade from 30GB to 80.
However, I'm wondering if this will have a largely detrimental effect
on the battery life (i.e more than an hour). When I'm working away from
PowerBook Adapter Battery issues18 Apr 2005 19:56 GMT8
I think my Titanium PowerBook wall adapter is failing, and googling for
more information about getting a new one, I have found quite a few other
complaints about Apple's adapter.
I hear lots of crackling noises coming from the adapter (from the prong
iBook versus Powerbook18 Apr 2005 19:36 GMT1
I'm looking into buying a Mac laptop for my graphic design courses. I
would like to go with the 15" Powerbook but the price is more that I
wanted to pay. Is there much difference between the high end iBook
and the low end Powerbook? Any recommendations...?
AirPort keeps dropping signal18 Apr 2005 13:59 GMT11
My 1.5 year old AirPort Extreme base station is having problems. It
seems to stop transmitting fairly regularly. I know it isn't my
PowerBook because I have tested it with other computers and they dont
get any signal either. The only remedy seems to be shutting it off for a
