iBook screen flicker (paging?) problem23 Mar 2005 11:08 GMT2
Anyone have this problem - ?
I set up a hot corner (it does it w/o the hot corner also) to turn the
screen saver on, so when it turns on I see the top quarter (25%) or so
of the screen do a weird flicker and it happens again when I move the
webcam for ibook23 Mar 2005 01:26 GMT2
Can anyone suggest a decent webcam for a G4 ibook for around $60 or
less?  I don't want to go out and spend $150 for an iSight.
It doesn't need a mic, since ibooks have the mic built in.  Also
something with some decent software would be great, since I'd like to
Wallstreet battery question22 Mar 2005 15:53 GMT2
I have been given a hand-me-down Wallstreet at work.  My first PowerBook.
(I had a Duo that I never removed from the dock.)  I have two, actually
a few questions.
1.  The battery is gone.  Only one light comes on, and it flashes.  I have
Changing password on Panther22 Mar 2005 15:47 GMT21
I just got this 12 inch 1GHz G4 with a heavily broken screen which someone
had presumably discovered costs too much to fix at Apple and threw in my
direction, not particularly expensively. I can use it but it has an
administrator password I obviously can't find which prevents me ...
Powerbook G4 dock recommendations22 Mar 2005 06:08 GMT11
So we discovered today that the Powerbook G4's don't
have a dock.  (Sorry, my laptop experience has been
Wintel machines from work; home machine is a Mac
mini-tower.)  The Apple stores in Chicago had some
Waking up a powerbook with a mouse click21 Mar 2005 20:12 GMT6
I have a G3 powerbook (400 MHz; Pismo, I think) running OS 10.3.7. When
put to sleep, it wakes up in response to keyboard activity, but not to
mouse activity (either moving or clicking); that seems to be an
intentional feature. It doesn't matter if I use an external mouse or the
Can't log in to PowerBook 520c (password trouble)21 Mar 2005 18:49 GMT7
PowerBook 520c possibly c.1994, apparently not faulty but unable to
log in due to system not recognising the password after someone else
borrowed it.
Anyone know what operating system this would have used?
harsh white screen?19 Mar 2005 23:26 GMT1
Is there any way to tone down the harsh white in screens to tan or
grey?
Especially for reading text.  I see a document color setting in Safari,
but apparently most web pages override this.  I'm aware various
loss of USB bus?18 Mar 2005 23:44 GMT1
I have a 15" AlBook, 1.5GHz running 10.3.8. While I rarely use USB
devices, I have a few "thumb drives", digital cameras and a 4GB USB disk
drive, all of which have worked fine in the past.
In the past few days I have tried my USB devices and none are recognized
clear key on 12" PB keyboard18 Mar 2005 12:44 GMT7
Sorry to seem so dense, but I can't find it, and the online help doesn't
seem to be of any assistance either when I search for 'clear.' What is
the key for this, either with num lock on or off.
TIA
iBook wont boot.  HELP PLEASE18 Mar 2005 00:25 GMT4
I went to turn my iBook G3 900mhz (16 VRAM) this morning, and it will
not boot. I here the drive spinning, but I get no chime and no video.
So I unpluged it, and removed the battery, and tried to boot it again,
but the same thing.
802.11g for TiBook?17 Mar 2005 22:13 GMT4
The AirPort card in my TiBook died some time ago, and I've been using a
Cisco 802.11b card that I had lying about. Works fine, but it's
dragging down my wireless network, the remainder of which is all

Strange noise on new PowerBook17 Mar 2005 18:06 GMT1
I have a VERY strange noise issue on my new PowerBook.
When I have external speakers or headphone or earphones connected to it at
my desk at home then I get a 'noise' which sounds like it has a data element
to it.
Wallstreet processor upgrade15 Mar 2005 03:31 GMT1
I was curious as to what the options are for upgrading a wallstreet to a
faster processor. I know of the Sonnet Crescendo G4 500Mhz upgrade, but
are there any other options? To throw it out there, can you use any of the
later higher Mhz powerbook G3 (such as a pismo or lombard?) ...
