My Girlfriend has 12 inch ibook G4 (1ghz) and all of a sudden the
battery stopped taking a charge. It's only a few months old so, i can't
image the it's dead. It was suggested to me that the power manager may
need to be reset. Seeing as this model doesn't have a "reset power

I plan to buy an iBook with 1.3 Ghz for surfing the web, write some
documents, prepare presentations and so on. No gaming or developing - seems
that 256 MB should be enough, didn't it?

Can any one recomend decent software for running on a stock Powerbook
1400CE. I just inherited one. Its a 166Mhz, 24MB Ram, looks like a
300MB HD and Floppy drive.

I have two CD/DVD drives for the hot swap bay in my Pismo. Both have
worked recently, sometimes quite well, for hours at a time, but both
have worked somewhat inconsistently. For example, I've sometimes played

Trying to help a friend with their PB 1400. I did have a PB 1400 but my
memory isn't that good. ;)
The green light is on (steady) but the computer won't respond. Plug in

I attempted to install Linux on my PB1400...big mistake. In pdisk, by
accident I deleted all the partitions on the hard drive, creating one
big partition with no OS on it.

It think (confirm, please) that there are two 1 GHZ G4 15" Powerbook
models, one of which will boot OS 9, and one which will not. Is there a
simple way to tell the difference based on the usually-quite-skimpy
