Problem with seeing cursor after sleep?15 Feb 2005 11:41 GMT4
I've noticed that when my PB (12") has been in sleep mode with no
attachments, when I then attach a USB keyboard with (kensington) mouse,
I can't see the cursor when the computer wakes, regardless of whether I
use the mouse or trackpad. The cursor function is there- it's just that
Will an 18 GB Drive work with a PowerBook WallStreet?15 Feb 2005 01:56 GMT11
I have an IBM Travelstar DASD that is 18.8 GB, I want to replace my 4 GB
drive in my Powerbook Wallstreet, will it get recognized? I seen a post here
before that anything more than 8 GB is not seen. If it is so, is there a
workaround?
Sick Wallstreet14 Feb 2005 18:03 GMT5
Normal power-on doesn't. No sounds, nothing.
Resetting PMU (shift-fn-ctrl-power) results in power light coming on,
fan starts up, both immediately shut off. No other response. Attaching
an external keyboard and pressing its power key also fails to start.
Pismo CPU Upgrading13 Feb 2005 21:51 GMT2
This has probably appeared on this NG before, but I missed it.  I am
thinking about finding a place (currently unknown) where I can get a G4
cpu to replace the G3 cpu. Anyone done this - results comments? I can
think of a couple of possible downsides: the motherboard and the busses
Dumb Airport query...13 Feb 2005 17:01 GMT1
I have an ordinary Airport connected to an ADSL line (via an Ethernet
hub); up until now our iBook 14" has worked pretty well with this...
But I'm now adding a new PowerBook to the setup, and it seemed sensible
to go for an AirPort Extreme base station, too.
iBook Internal Speakers Not Working13 Feb 2005 03:09 GMT2
I have an iBook G3/800 and my speakers have stopped working though
headphones work.  When I go the Audio pane in the System Prefs,
Headphones (Built-in Audio port) is my only option.  Without headphones
plugged in, I get nothing, regardless of where the volume is set.
Q for Pismo/G4, G5 owners12 Feb 2005 20:53 GMT9
Those of you who have upgraded your Pismo PB with a G4 or G5 processor, how
are you finding OS X 10.3.7 or even Tiger, if you have it?
I'm finding that as of 10.3.7 and the latest version of iLife apps, the druge
factor is getting a bit large.

PB 550 OpenFirmware question11 Feb 2005 17:04 GMT3
Hello NG
I have a 550 Powerbook with a 16 MB Radeon graphic. The resolution of
the screen is 1152 x 768. The screen is not good anymore. But I have a
good tft panel from a newer PB with a higher resolution (1280 x 854).
any comparisons available between mini-mac and powerbooks?11 Feb 2005 11:04 GMT4
Now that the mini-mac is out, I'm wondering where I can find comparisons
between the mini-mac and the PB models. I have a PB 12" (1.33) and am
considering getting the mini-mac as 'another' computer. The PB is fast
enough for my needs, even with 256 MB RAM. I'm considering getting ...
New PowerBook + bluetooth...?10 Feb 2005 12:28 GMT6
My partner has, and loves, her 14" iBook. She had Bluetooth installed when
she ordered it, immediately added a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and - as
I say! - really loves her Mac.
Inspired by this, I've carefully examined my budget, and think I can just
Used Titanium vs Aluminum Powerbook?09 Feb 2005 22:41 GMT19
Hi There--
Am a filmmaker with $1400 to spend on a used powerbook. (Unless I can
get DVI with the ibook these days.) I also do filmscoring.
I was wondering what the difference was between the Aluminum and the
CD burner09 Feb 2005 19:16 GMT3
I would like to acquire a CD burner for my Wallstreet 266 (SCSI
port and PCMCIA slots).  New SCSI peripherals are long gone from the
market, and now USB 1.0 devices are hard to find.
What would you ladies and gentlemen suggest I search for and use?
Lombard powerup problems09 Feb 2005 09:35 GMT1
Strange problems on 333mhz Lombard:
When powerbook gets power from adapter (before I turn it on), green led
turns on and stays on, and power button doesn't react - so boot is
imposible, screen is dark.
