Is there any way to put a folder in the Bookmarks bar to create a drop
down menu?
ibook external display blurry17 Jan 2005 01:54 GMT3
I recently bought an ibook and wanted to hook it up to my CRT ibm e74
monitor when I was working from home. The image I get, though, is a bit
blurry and "washed out". The image is not unviewable, but after about
an hour of working I start to get eyestrain.
FS: Powerbook G4 550 Titanium parts16 Jan 2005 22:35 GMT2
Please, someone let me know which of the mac newsgroups are the best bet
to post Powerbook parts for sale.
I replaced my powerbook 15" after breaking a hinge and the frame.
The computer worked FINE, but was too costly to fix, etc.
bad power adapter?16 Jan 2005 21:05 GMT9
The power cord on my PowerBook 17 has started behaving strangely. It
glows amber all the time, even though the battery is fully charged. I
also hear a clicking noise emanating from it! Anyone else seen anything
like this?

is with the PRAM battery, power battery, PMU, which two of those three,
or something else....?

Need a recommendation15 Jan 2005 18:16 GMT1
My daughter's old iBook is too old to be upgraded.  We need something
new.  A PowerBook like mine seems to be overkill.  She primarily just
wants to browse (wireless, of course), do e-mail and burn music on CDs.
It looks like the new iBooks, for about $1K, retail ought to do the
Connecting external DVD burner and PowerBook... HELP!15 Jan 2005 04:21 GMT9
I have a G4 15" PowerBook and am trying to connect a firewire external
DVD burner. The DVD burner is a Pioneer DVR105 and is housed in a
generic 5.25" firewire enclosure. I'm not sure if I'm missing anything-
I thought it would be just plug and play, but the PowerBook doesn't
Lombard14 Jan 2005 20:28 GMT5
I have a Lombard with the standard 6G hard drive and  have increased
the RAM to 512.
I'm thinking of updating as I want more speed, a CD burner and aiport.
But it is worth it?
iBook dual-USB 500 and DVD-RW14 Jan 2005 09:58 GMT1
I've got a 2001 iBook dual-USB 500MHz with the DVD-ROM drive and OSX
10.2.8.
I'm trying to read a DVD-RW disc. When I put the disc in just now, the
drive spun up for a couple of seconds and then it spit the disc out
14" iBook - more memory...?13 Jan 2005 12:15 GMT1
New iBook, ordered with 512MB of memory (I thought 256MB wouldn't be enough
- but now more would be good!)
Advice, though, please - having looked at the Apple memory upgrade pdf, it
looks as if the iBook has just one memory slot, and I'm concerned that
Installing RAM in iBook G412 Jan 2005 02:15 GMT13
I have to handle the purchase of three iBook G4s.  They come with
256 MB of RAM, but I think their users will be more comfortable
with 512 or 768 MB of RAM.
The SODIMMs are much cheaper from Crucial, but I haven't seen
Paint packages [a slight return]12 Jan 2005 02:03 GMT1
Darn! Sorry I can't reply individually to the folks who replied to my
last post, but Google won't let me post a follow up.
I'm looking for something more sophisticated than the paint package
that comes with Appleworks, something suitable for high quality

Major differences between iBook and Powerbook11 Jan 2005 14:15 GMT4
I've basically decided on a Powerbook (still up in the air to get the 12"
or 15") but have noticed a serious price differential between them and the
iBooks. I notice that the iBook only supports 1 DIMM slot, but this isn't
relevant if I decide to go with the 12" PB. I am also ...
Using iBook for Java/JBoss/Eclipse/MySql website development11 Jan 2005 11:00 GMT4
I am looking to add an iBook or PowerBook laptop to my configuration.
Being a software engineer, I have some specific requirements and want
to make sure this is going to work for me. However I have been
intruiged for years by Apple and I want to give it go!
