| Upgrade AlBook to Superdrive? | 16 Dec 2004 01:34 GMT | 3 |
I've got a 1Ghz AlBook with a combo drive. I've seen superdrive upgrades for TiBooks, but can't seem to find one for the AlBook. Anybody know of a company that does this? Or where I could find the part (at a reasonable price) that I can install myself?

From a friend I have received a pismo with a defective cd-rom. I cannot start the pismo, because it asks for a password and my friend doesn't remember it, because it was given to him, too. So I started the pismo in target mode, connecting it to my wallstreet and that worked well. ...

| 10.3.6 -- Install Or Not? | 12 Dec 2004 08:40 GMT | 20 |
I've seen some reports here that after 10.3.6 is installed, battery readings are incorrect (and in fact cause the computer to inappropriately sleep/shut down). Is this problem widespread? In other words, is it generally safe to download and install it? (I have a 15" aluminum G4.)

My PowerBook is still under the 12 month original apple warranty. However, I recently dropped it from a 5 foot height onto concrete. Amazingly, the only functional damage (other than severe case bending and the latch being broken) is that the backlight has failed.

| Modem doesn't connect after update | 07 Dec 2004 12:05 GMT | 1 |
After updating to 10.3.5, my snow iBook (dual USB) modem would no longer dial my ISP. The AOL program acted like it was dialing, but never did (I listened on the phone). The little telephone icon at the top of the screen would start to indicate dialling, but would quickly revert ...
