OK, so I hire a guy with a PC to shoot and edit a wedding and burn it onto DVD. He asks me if I preffer "+" or "-" DVD. I ask him to do both. They play fine in my livingroom DVD-player. The DVD-R also playes fine on my iBook (Combo, not supperdrive). I put the DVD+R in my iBook, ...

| Smell coming from iBook after fall | 28 Sep 2004 12:21 GMT | 3 |
Two months ago my 3 year old iBook took a fall. The only obvious damage was that the latch broke. Other than that it kept working just fine. Shortly after the fall I installed 512 MB RAM.

My iBook arrived today. I'm currently charging the battery. I understand that when I calibrate it I should charge the battery fully, then use the computer till it runs down completely. Does this mean continuous use (ie should I just use it and let it sleep when I am

I bought an external hard drive enclosure with 250GB to use with my 12" powerbook. My case has both Firewire and USB2 connections. When I first bought it, I would just plug it into my Powerbook (Firewire OR USB), and it would connect without problems.

| RAM for PowerBook G4 | 26 Sep 2004 15:45 GMT | 2 |
I never upgraded to 1Gb because I would have had to replace 2-256Mb chips with 2-512Mb chips. Now, I have read, there are 1Gb chips out. Does anybody know if a PowerBook will recognize them? I might be willing to spend the money on 2-1Gb chips, or even just put in one and

| 10.3.5 or 10.3.3 on PB G4 Ti 1GHz | 26 Sep 2004 01:29 GMT | 7 |
I've heard reports of problems with 10.3.5. I'm quite new to OS X so I don't know how to evaluate the seriousness of the reported problems. I have a PB G4 Ti 1Ghz that I'm moving to as my main Mac and I plan to upgrade it to Panther before switching to using it full time. Trying ...

| Where to buy new battery for Pismo? | 25 Sep 2004 16:54 GMT | 5 |
I wonder if anyone here has an expert opinion on the best source for new batteries for a Pismo (or Lombard)? Are we better off buying a third-party replacement battery or one of the sealed orginal Apple batteries that sometimes show up on eBay.

| I don't get this | 25 Sep 2004 15:38 GMT | 4 |
I had this iBook for 18 months now, and the battery life has been around 3 hours. Now I started to get 4, 5, and believe or not up to 6-7 hours and it seems to be going up with each charge. Can't complain, but I'd like to know what the heck is going on.

| ColorSync for Pismo? | 23 Sep 2004 19:33 GMT | 1 |
I'm looking for a ColorSync/ICC profile for a Pismo that will work under OSX. I have one called Pismo 1.8 that I got off the net that works fine with OS9 however it messes up certain apps on OSX. The LCD profile that comes with OSX makes my light yellows look light pinkish.

| Power adapter - is it bad to keep it plugged in? | 23 Sep 2004 08:52 GMT | 10 |
When I unplug the notebook from its power adapter, is it okey to leave the other end plugged in and powered on? I never thought about it until I got a Sony Vaio Z1WA with a bright green light power-on indicator... Don't use the email address in the header, it's a spam killer.
