Gimp-Print27 Aug 2004 06:06 GMT1
I just bought an IBook G4 and I am trying to print (through a network)
to a printer that is running off of my PC (Windows XP). Does anyone
know what HP drivers in Gimp Print are compatible with my HP Deskjet
3650? I looked on the Gimp-Print web site and the 3650 is not listed.
seeing the wireless network, but can't access26 Aug 2004 10:00 GMT5
I was at a conference in Spain recently, and was taking notes on my iBook.
I was bored, and hit the airport software button -- and a wireless network
set up by Telefonica showed up. The signal was really strong. Whoopie! I
figured out that I needed to buy time on the network, and ...
root password Mac 10.1.526 Aug 2004 05:08 GMT5
I need to run as script as root but there is no option to log in as root. I
looked at Info manager, there is a root user there. When I go to terminal
and do an su root, it eventually tells me that it cannot load a file. Should
I have installed the extended OS. Is there a way I can ...
iBook: How tight/flush should battery be?25 Aug 2004 20:34 GMT1
I have an iBook G4 800.  I have never had any problems with the battery,
but when I look at my case the left side of the battery is less flush
than the right/corner.
How tightly should the battery lock into place?  Is this normal, or do I
15" Firewire Port Question25 Aug 2004 18:26 GMT3
The 15" AlBook has Firewire 400 and 800 ports. Is there an included dongle
to make the 800 port compatible with a 400 device? I'm wondering if it's
possible to connect two Firewire 400 devices without daisy-chaining them.
Thanks!
3400 internal modem?25 Aug 2004 18:05 GMT2
Can someone tell me which internal modem to select in the control panel on
a 3400?
Thanks,

Recommendations on new portable24 Aug 2004 22:49 GMT23
I'm considering replacing my Powerbook G3 2000 (Pismo) with a newer
offering, and was wondering what people would currently recommend.
I've seen complaints about the new Powerbooks (white spots on screen,
excessive heat, less than stellar battery life, and inoperable ...
iBook G4 review in MacHome magazine24 Aug 2004 20:51 GMT20
Hey all,
There's a rather unflattering review in the current MacHome
of the new 12" iBook G4 written by someone who isn't a native
speaker of English (e.g. "but's" used instead of "but it's").
Alternative to Airport Card in Pismo?23 Aug 2004 18:48 GMT9
I recently set up a wireless network with my Powerbook G4, Power PC
7500, and Powerbook Firewire Pismo.  I had never purchased an Airport
card for the Pismo so I've been connected via ethernet cable to the
Linksys wireless router. The G4 Powerbook is connected wirelessly via
Which CD-ROM Drives Work in Kanga?22 Aug 2004 15:54 GMT4
Simple question, but I can't find the answer anywhere: Which CD-ROM
model numbers fit in a Kanga? I know that none of the drives made for
later PowerBook G3 models will fit into the Kanga, but I don't know
which model numbers WILL fit the thing!
Can I install Panther on a 466MHz G3 iBook with 192M of RAM????21 Aug 2004 17:22 GMT4
It's probably borderline, but has anyone with an iBook with this
configuration able to run Panther?
Thanks, Dale
iBook G4, OS 10.3, DSL, D-Link Router & AOL problems21 Aug 2004 13:58 GMT6
Some weeks ago I posted of a problem getting AOL for OS X to connect
while using an iBook running Panther, with an Airport Extreme card,
through a D-Link 802.11b router and a DSL connection. The consensus
was this was a problem with the AOL software.
any solution for jerky scroll wheel?21 Aug 2004 05:37 GMT5
I bought an MS notebook optical mouse for use with my iBook when I'm
travelling. It works fine except that the scroll wheel is very jerky.
There are no drivers for this mouse on the MS site. Is there any way to
get the scroll wheel to work more smoothly?

joining a WEP protected LinkSys system20 Aug 2004 18:35 GMT6
I and my TI LapTop [with airport card] are visiting my cousins who are
windows guys and I can't join their WEP password protected LikSys 802.11b

connect my Tungsten C to the WiFi system.
