12 inch G4 PB with stuck battery20 Jul 2004 03:28 GMT1
I just got a new 12" G4 powerbook (1.33 Mhz). Of course, the first thing I had
to do was install more memory. I popped the battery out, put in the new memory,
and started putting the battery back in. As a 20 year Mac veteran, I trusted
intuition rather than looking at the manual. ...
Replacing a screen on a PB 16519 Jul 2004 05:29 GMT3
I'm thinking of replacing the old black and white screen on my ancient
Powerbook 165 with a color screen. Don't ask me why, the only thing I
use it for is a portable word processor, but for some dang reason I
just have to have a color screen on this thing, and I think I know
iPod  - a pause that does not refresh18 Jul 2004 18:12 GMT4
I have a 15 GIG, 3rd gen iPod.  It works fine except for one nasty
habit.  When it starts up for the day, it flips into pause mode 2.5
minutes after I start the first track.  This is usually a pain as I am
driving by then.  Anyone else have this problem?  Happens whether I am
Good upgrades for Lombard 333?18 Jul 2004 08:56 GMT1
I've got my Powerbook G3/333Mhz mostly taken apart, in order to
replace the sound/AC card (and now that I have, the problem is
obvious... you can see the cracks on the solder points).... and I'm
now wondering: is there anything else I should do while I'm here?
PowerBook G3 Wallstreet II & portable printer models?18 Jul 2004 04:23 GMT3
Hey all,
I have a PowerBook G3 Wallstreet II (read: Macintosh ADB and Serial Ports,
and IrDA).
Just wondering if there are any portable printers currently on the market
Pismo won't talk to internal drive - suggestions?18 Jul 2004 03:57 GMT2
This is the second time that this Pismo has had problems like this, so
I'm curious about whether something other than the drive may have gone bad.
The machine is a Pismo 300 with 256M and a (replacement) 10G hard
drive, running 10.1.5.  At some point, the computer started to ...
Service Manual for Powerbook G3/333 (Lombard)18 Jul 2004 01:34 GMT3
I'm poking around looking for a PDF of the Service Manual for a
Powerbook G3/333 (Lombard/Bronze)... got to do a repair on the
sound/power board.
Any good advice on where to look, or would there be anyone willing to
ipod useless17 Jul 2004 15:25 GMT1
Hi, can anyone help? The ipod has blanked itself! The music is still
on there when checking through hidden folders via My Computer, but the
Ipod is not recognized by iTunes and I can't download any music to it.
The ipod itself turns on normally and looks normal but just has no
iBookG517 Jul 2004 15:05 GMT20
Does it sound reasonable that within say two years there could be an
iBook G5?
I am using my iBook G4 more and more in place of my G4/400, and am
convinced that for me a laptop is the way to go in the future.
iBook repair ext. program--does it cover bad cable?17 Jul 2004 07:34 GMT2
My Dual USB icebook has the dread Angle of Death screen blackout problem:

where it passes through the hinge. Clearly a design flaw, but not
RAM upgrade for Pismo -- where are the diminishing returns?16 Jul 2004 06:10 GMT6
My wife got a new 12" 1.33 GHz PBG4, and I inherited her old 400 MHz
Pismo.  I'm willing to invest a little in it to make it just a little
snappier in OS X, as it wouldn't be my main machine but one to goof
around with when I'm not at my desk.  I plan to start with a clean
Macworld Boston15 Jul 2004 14:49 GMT3
Well all it's official the Macworld Boston Expo SUCKS. It was a joke, I have
been to guns shows in Springfield at The BIG E (Country fair grounds for those
not in the know) that where better. It is sad to say that it has gone down the
crapper. Never in my life I was able to walk ...
Recommendations for Airport-enabling my G3/900 iBook15 Jul 2004 09:22 GMT4
I want to hook up my G3 (900 Mhz, or .9 GHz if you prefer) iBook
(running 10.3.4) with a Wireless card.  I'm aware that I can get an
Airport (not APExtreme) card (although the Apple Store online no longer
stocks these), but should I consider other options?  Portability is a
OX 10.3.2 won't install in Pismo15 Jul 2004 09:22 GMT11
I just bought a brand new copy of OS 10.3.2 from an Apple store. I
intended it primarily for my Powerbook G3 (Pismo model). AFAIK it's
supported, has enough disk space, has all the current firmware upgrades,
etc.
