iBook G4 won't sleep on its own31 Jul 2004 10:26 GMT12
My iBook won't go to sleep on its own (when it's supposed to according
to the Energy Saver settings) either plugged in or running on batter
power. It will sleep if I close the lid or select it from the menu,
but never on its own.
Wallstreet clicks when trying to start up31 Jul 2004 07:02 GMT2
Instead of the  old organ-note sound at start-up, my Wallstreet just
makes a rapid clicking sound and doesn't start.
It was working fine for a couple of days with a new hard drive and new
install of OS 10.2.8 (previously running 9.2) Then I shut it down and
Upgrading Prismo drive.29 Jul 2004 02:07 GMT5
I am thinking of upgrading my hard-drive. What I wish to know, is can
I use any 2.5 inch laptop hard-drive? and or, what the requirements to
upgrade?
Wallstreet and Panther install help28 Jul 2004 12:24 GMT10
Howdy all,
Well I've been scouring the newsgroups, websites, forums and just about
anything I could get my hands on about OS X Panther (10.3.2) and installing
on an old Powerbook G3 Wallstreet.

Using a Powerbook on Verizon for email26 Jul 2004 23:40 GMT10
I currently have ATT cellphone service and they want to charge me $40 a
month (+a new GSM phone) to check my email. Also, their service coverage
for this is very poor. Verizon only wants a one-time $40 for a
cable/connectivity pack that will do the job. Problem is their
Adding memory to 12" powerbook26 Jul 2004 20:24 GMT5
I've ordered a 12" powerbook and will receive it later this
week.  Can anyone tell me how easy/hard it is to add memory
to this system?  Is it along the same difficulty of adding
memory to an old G3 powerbook, or does it require more
DIMMs or SO-DIMMs for 1.33GHz 12" Powerbook26 Jul 2004 08:38 GMT1
I was looking at memory products on smalldog.com, and they
offer both a 1GB DIMM and an SO-DIMM.  Both are PC2700
DDR 333.  Will either of these work in a 12" powerbook, and
are there any power consumption differences between the
Special Characters IBOOK26 Jul 2004 01:40 GMT1
I just picked up a new ibook and have just been getting acquainted
with it. I noticed that some of the keys on the keyboard type out
special characters.  For example this is my question mark, ÈÉÉÉ, and
this is my backslash, àààààà.
Buying a used iBook?25 Jul 2004 14:08 GMT5
There seem to have been several quality issues with iBooks, if my research in
the usenet archives is accurate. Have any current or discontinued iBook
models escaped the quality problems? Or are all of them having repair issues?
I know that for some of the models Apple has ...
Apple Store Question24 Jul 2004 02:52 GMT5
Are the brick and mortar Apple Stores (say the one in
Indianapolis) able to configure powerbook systems in
house?  For instance if I want a 12" powerbook with
the 80GB drive (instead of 60GB), can will they swap
Please help with dying powerbook G3 (bronze)24 Jul 2004 02:41 GMT12
I have a powerbook G3 (bronze model M5343) that has an odd problem. If
I can get it to turn on, great, but once it's off, it won't turn on
again for several weeks (sometimes months). I've noticed that when it
doesn't turn on, the sleep led will be solid, even though the machine
Need Wallstreet CD burner23 Jul 2004 12:11 GMT8
I need a CD burner that would work with a Wallstreet.  I would like to
run it off of Jaguar - have a firewire card, could get a USB card.
Using it with 9.2 would be okay if necessary.
Would appreciate any information, if there is anyone who has purchased
Will a Pismo display work with a Lombard? Vice Versa?23 Jul 2004 05:27 GMT1
I've got a problem with my Powerbook Lombard -- the hinges are busted.
I've been pricing the parts, and see that I may be able to get a Pismo
for parts for about as much as I'd pay for the hinges. Would a display
swap pretty evenly between the two? Hinge parts?
Faster Drive for Extra TiBook Life?22 Jul 2004 05:22 GMT6
I would like to speed up my TiBook 667/1GB RAM/10.3.4 a bit as an
interim solution until a PowerBook G5 is released. The machine
currently has its original 48GB, 5400RPM drive installed.
OWC are offering a 60GB Hitachi/IBM Travelstar *7200RPM*  ATA/6 9.5mm
