iBook picture dead06 May 2004 21:25 GMT2
How do I deal with the following iBook malfunction.  The screen remains
dark, as in no picture, even upon restart. I tried removing the battery,
waiting a minute or so, then replacing the battery and restarting.  This
worked once or twice, and the screen was as normal.  But the ...
iBook as only computer?05 May 2004 17:42 GMT29
Thinking about buying an iBook and using it as my only / main
computer.  Only isn't quite right - I have an old homebuilt PC serving
as my home LAN gateway right now, but I use it for nothing else.
Is the iBook suitable for this with an external monitor / kb /

do you know a source about Apples compatible batteries and the battery
data itself?
I'm afraid that the exact data are almost unavailable - Apple names e.g.
different order numbers for the same model, different capacities for the
12" Powerbook G4 (1GHz) Sleep Problem04 May 2004 04:40 GMT9
I've noticed that my Powerbook won't stay asleep if an external
monitor is plugged into it. The light will flash once, then the unit
will wake up. Anyone else having this problem? I think it's new to a
recent software update, but I'm not sure which one. I'm running 10.3.3
2 Hour IPod Battery Life?04 May 2004 01:29 GMT3
I bought a 15G Ipod last week and the manual sez the battery life on a full
charge should be 8 hours.  I have installed 7G of mostly 3 minute tunes
(almost 3000) and when I just let them play one after another I get about 2
hours of play.  If I only listen for an hour I do turn it ...

anyway. Is there an online source for Pismo PB batteries ?
Thanks in advance
Powerbook G4 12" (1.33GHz) opinions?03 May 2004 21:34 GMT4
Looking to buy a Powerbook for travel/vacations. Prefer the 12" size for
this purpose.
Would appreciate any input from current PB G4 12" owners or others.
Especially any negatives.
15" AlBook Wake from Sleep03 May 2004 21:34 GMT10
Has anyone had problems with the aluminum G4 15" not waking from sleep? Mine does this
sporadically, and I haven't been able to pin down the cause.
The sleep light will be blinking normally, then when I open the lid, the screen will stay
dark, and I have to restart. I've swapped ...

What effect will 128MB of graphics memory for the new PowerBooks have
on Internet usage?
TiBook 550Mhz buying advice please...03 May 2004 18:22 GMT3
I'm about to buy a used 550Mhz TiBook with a combo drive.  I've been
using a PB G3 Lombard (400Mhz) for a few years now and haven't been
following the PB G4 QC issues.
What questions should I be asking the seller of this G4 PG?  What
Hiding the HD icon in OS X02 May 2004 23:29 GMT3
Just curious if there's some hidden way to make the Hard Drive icon
disappear from the desktop in OS X.  Anybody got a hint for me?

ibook keyboard02 May 2004 10:58 GMT8
Good Day.
I've just gotten a (used) ibook (800, 10.2.8) that seems to have a bit of
a keyboard challenge. I've never owned a mac, or used one much, before so
I'm picking at this stuff pretty slowly.
popping noise when powerbook powers up02 May 2004 07:16 GMT2
I realize that other people have been asking the same question: What
is this popping noise coming from my speakers, and how do I get rid of
it?  It seems pretty obvious that it's the powerbook speakers powering
down to save energy or something to that effect.  And the subsequent

Has anyone had any luck running OS 10.2 on a Wallstreet I powerbook,
233 mhz and 160 meg RAM?
Thanks,
Nathan
