Pismo PRAM won't zap!12 May 2004 10:57 GMT3
I've had problems with a replacement CDRW drive that works perfectly
after the powerbook starts but disappears after a burn and refuses to
open or mount CDs placed in it. I have had a recommendation to Zap the
PRAM, but when I hold down the Cmd-Opt-P-R keys and startup, the Pismo ...
Sending Web pages.11 May 2004 22:22 GMT39
How do you send web pages, so that they open as a web page, not a
link?
No one is going to get emotional about an email that asks them to
click a link.  In Windows, the mail will download the web pages in the
Making the Switch -- Thinking  iBook11 May 2004 20:56 GMT8
Currently debating making the jump and buying both my first laptop and
my first Mac at the same time.  After spending a bunch of time on
apple.ca's website I don't see a ton of difference between the newest
iBooks and Powerbooks (unless you get to the high end powerbooks).
Wallstreet VRAM upgrade11 May 2004 19:25 GMT1

A tip for Titanium Powerbook hinge life11 May 2004 15:49 GMT3
I don't know if others have noticed this, but it seems to me that the
hinges on my Titanium 1 GHz Powerbook G4 get tighter (more difficult
to move the display) when the computer has been in use and is warm.  I
noticed this when I went to adjust the display recently after a period
Time to buy a new powerbook, recommendations?11 May 2004 15:01 GMT31
I am considering buying a new powerbook this year. (I have a 266
Wallstreet presently)
I want to buy one that will also run OS 9, owing to the fact that I
simply cannot afford to buy all new software at the same time.
An Open Letter to "GoldTrade"11 May 2004 13:20 GMT10
I would first like to say that none of us in here are experts.
That's the point, we learn from each others misfortunes and victories
over problems.  In the case of these newsgroups, with our Apple
computers.  Secondly, I don't like to pick fights or waste newsgroup

hinge repair, who does the best job for the best price?11 May 2004 11:00 GMT1
I have the Titanium G4. The left hinge broke 1 month out of warranty.
Luckily the monitor still works, but I don't want to press my luck any
further. I'm trying to decide where to get it fixed and I'm not
interested in doing the work myself. One company I was curious about
Pismo speaker hiss?10 May 2004 19:31 GMT5
My Pismo (OSX.3.3) has developed a quiet but relentless hiss from both
speakers. This is unrelated to volume settings and is not audible via
the sound output socket.
Anyone struck it before, or better still has heard of a cure?
Pismo fan09 May 2004 17:09 GMT5
Seems that my Pismo has a dead fan in it. I've had the laptop for four
months now and it hasn't yet spun which kinda makes me think that.
Is it supposed to spin when the computer is powered on? Any way to
check via software?
Home/end keys09 May 2004 03:09 GMT5
OK, first of may question/moans, I'm sure. But why don't the home and end
keys work in OS X? I know on my powerbook they're shared with the cursor
keys, and I know how to work them. But on built-in keyboard or external, in
a lot of programs, they don't work. A moment ago I was ...

iBook: G4 vs. G306 May 2004 22:46 GMT2
Hi, I have the 12" iBook, G3, 900 MHz. I am considering purchasing a
DSLR camera, and thus will probably get Photoshop Elements and tweak a
picture here and there. I am wondering if it makes sense to upgrade to a
G4 iBook. Will I see a huge improvment???
