10.2.8 battery weirdness on TiBook G4 800MHz30 Sep 2003 23:00 GMT4
I was probably a bit too quick off the mark downloading & upgrading to
10.2.8. My battery life appears to have halved. Anybody think this mught be
permanent or will it just go away with a new update?
Thanks,
iBook vs PB30 Sep 2003 20:47 GMT2
I've had my 17" PB for a few months now and love it. It's used for work
16 hours a day and the big screen is a life saver. I'd like to buy my
wife a portable for her use. It would be strictly personal use; mail,
web, MS Office type stuff. Would the iBook be sufficient, or should ...
FS:  M7332 Lombard/iBook Yo-yo Power Adaptor30 Sep 2003 13:45 GMT2
Hey all--
I've parted out *most* of my Lombard 333 on eBay already.  There are some
parts left (including a good logic board... let me know if you need one),
but to be honest, I'm sick of listing stuff on eBay and dealing with all the
Pismo Li battery - type of cells contained - how to get30 Sep 2003 12:00 GMT3
I just opened a Pismo Li-battery (a dead one).
Of course I did damage the latches (welded) but other than that with
minimal damage.
The cells contained are:
Printing from iBook to HP laserjet 6?30 Sep 2003 05:31 GMT1
My daughter has an iBook (white 600MHz) and wants to print to her HP
Laserjet 6.  It appears that USB-serial adapters don't generally support
printing.  If this so, are there exceptions?
What about using a USB-parallel adapter such as the $25 CP technologies
iBook battery only charges to 95%29 Sep 2003 20:04 GMT3
I usually keep my iBook plugged in and I've noticed lately that it
only charges to 95%. I recently plugged it into a UPS but I have also
plugged it into other outlets and the 95% things still remains.
Is this a sign the battery is going bad? Should I let it run down

iBook external video max. resolution?28 Sep 2003 18:20 GMT3
Both the 12" and 14" iBooks only support 1024x768 on their LCDs and
with mirroring. But if the LCD is 'disabled' and the primary display
is the external video, can I raise the resolution? At least to
1280x1024 (or higher)? Preferably in at least 16-bit.
Help requested28 Sep 2003 17:04 GMT7
I have a powerbook G3, on which I tried to use a quite old version of
Norton Utilities. It screwed up something important pretty soon when I
tried running the Disk Doctor program. It crashed the computer and now
it won't even boot up, it just shows the image of a disk with flashing
iBook battery charge level query command?28 Sep 2003 11:53 GMT1
I'd like to be able to query the battery charge level, so that I
can have get customized low battery warnings.  Twice in the past
few days the iBook (2-USB 500Mhz) has gone into forced sleep
unexpectedly.  Seems like the bottom half of the battery is only
CD-RW Module for the Pismo28 Sep 2003 10:49 GMT4
Has there ever been a CD-R(W) module for the Pismo? I've been looking
for a long time, and I haven't been able to find one. I'm beginning to
think it doesn't exist.
Thanks,
New 17" hard freezes28 Sep 2003 05:43 GMT4
Last week I picked up the new 17" PowerBook, and after a couple days it
started "hard freezing" on me.  That is, the mouse cursor would
freeze, no KB input did anything, and closing the unit didn't put it to
sleep, it is completely unresponsive.
loose eth.jack on original ibook28 Sep 2003 03:43 GMT1
Have the original ibook, special ed., 712 ram, running the latest X, all
works fine.
The ethernet jack may be coming loose, not sure. The outer frame (that seems
to be just on the case) is loose, perhaps not the jack. I am being careful
New Powerbooks: Superdrive Specs?27 Sep 2003 17:38 GMT3
We're here considering a new Al-Book (15"), and gotten to know the
trouble with Apple's superdrive, I took a closer look:
On the website, store, etc. they say: CD-R recording at 16x speed.
In the updated technote (link below) it says: CD-R at 8x speed.
