Every time I try to update my Office 2004 it locks up whilst looking on my hard drive for the program to update?

After I successfully went through the reinstall routine, an
AutoUpdater check still indicates 12.1.1 is required (I used the stand-
alone version).
I verified via Command+I that 12.1.1 is the present version of Word,

Hi all-
Any help would be appreciated. I just tried unsuccessfully to update to
Office 12.1.1. The installer was unable to find the existing installation of
Office on the hard drive; although it is clearly there.

Hi, I recently purchased a copy of Office 2008 home and student edition, but
intend to use the programme to generate income; I realised that this is not
possible due to the non-commercial license of home and student so I purchased
a copy of the Special Media Edition.

with about 2 minutes remaining. It seems to have loaded 70% of installer and then gets to installing converter and stops at 30% and 2 minutes remaining every time. Eventually has to be forced to quit.

Do you have to install SP1 in order to install the latest update? I re-installed office + 1st update but did not install SP1 after all the problems. None of the 'fix' suggestions worked for me.

I want to put stick figures beneath my callouts. I thought I had seen stick figures in Office before but now I can't find any. Are these available? Where are they? Thanks for any help.
