.doc files freeze Finder/Mail, Word hangs on start16 May 2005 20:16 GMT1
I have an iBook (G3, 800 Mhz, OS X 10.3.9) running Office 2004.  Lately,
if I receive an email with a Word attachment, Mail hangs (I see the
spinning beach ball).  This also happens with Thunderbird.
If I open a folder containing a .doc file, the Finder hangs.

I posted here several weeks ago and this problem couldn't be resolved
then -- not entirely, anyway. I'm trying again because I haven't been
able to find anything more anywhere else, and there WAS one thing I did
right that I would like to duplicate -- plus, I'm pretty sure I can

I have just installed Office 2004 after upgrading to OS 10.3. But I
