I bought a new iMac (obviously Intel and 10.5.3) yesterday and started up Migration Assistant to move files, settings, etc. from my old iMac (PPC processor, running 10.4, I think it's 10.4.11) and encountered really annoying problems.

My job is giving me ~$2000 to spend on a Mac laptop. With that amount of money, I can buy either a souped-up, top-of-the-line Macbook or a bottom-of-the-line Macbook Pro. I'm seeking advice about which choice makes more sense.

Over the weekend I was backing up my files onto an external HD. Just after setting up the transfer, the firewire connection was jiggled and failed which deleted the drive. Unfortunately the mac is now telling me that the drive is not readable, even after restarting the computer.

Is anyone out there having success using an HP 8200 series scanner on OSX? I can't get mine to work under either OSX Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard 10.5.2. Under Tiger, when I initiate a scan on the scanner, the HP Scan Pro app starts and then immediately crashes. Under Leopard,

I spilled some tea on my iMac keyboard earlier this evening. I removed some of the keys and removed the bottom cover to clean it. I then put it back together but now I find that some of the keys don't work (the diagonal which includes the - [ ' and right-hand Shift).
