Migration Assistant glitch30 May 2008 04:05 GMT3
I bought a new iMac (obviously Intel and 10.5.3) yesterday and started
up Migration Assistant to move files, settings, etc. from my old iMac
(PPC processor, running 10.4, I think it's 10.4.11) and encountered
really annoying problems.
Macbook v. Macbook Pro29 May 2008 16:22 GMT37
My job is giving me ~$2000 to spend on a Mac laptop. With that amount
of money, I can buy either a souped-up, top-of-the-line Macbook or a
bottom-of-the-line Macbook Pro. I'm seeking advice about which choice
makes more sense.
Hardrive help28 May 2008 18:53 GMT3
Over the weekend I was backing up my files onto an external HD. Just
after setting up the transfer, the firewire connection was jiggled and
failed which deleted the drive. Unfortunately the mac is now telling me
that the drive is not readable, even after restarting the computer.
Sorting out "Giga" vs. Non-Giga Routers26 May 2008 21:21 GMT1
I have an eight-port Linksys router hooked up to my cable modem and
attached to that router are a couple of printers, a home server, three
couple of PCs, and a Mac. Everything seems to get along fine.
I also have a Linksys wireless G 4router, which, when my wife and I want
HP Scanjet 8250 Scanner problems26 May 2008 21:05 GMT3
Is anyone out there having success using an HP 8200 series scanner on
OSX? I can't get mine to work under either OSX Tiger 10.4.11 or
Leopard 10.5.2. Under Tiger, when I initiate a scan on the scanner,
the HP Scan Pro app starts and then immediately crashes. Under Leopard,

Cleaned Keyboard--Now Some Keys Won't Work23 May 2008 15:33 GMT2
I spilled some tea on my iMac keyboard earlier this evening.  I removed
some of the keys and removed the bottom cover to clean it.  I then put it
back together but now I find that some of the keys don't work (the diagonal
which includes the - [ ' and right-hand Shift).
keyboard number pad mouse goes on strike.21 May 2008 06:58 GMT1
I have a Power Mac G4 (2.1) 1 GHz with 1.75 GB memory running OS
10.3.9. The problem I'm having is that when I try to use the number
pad on the right of the key board and then the mouse.  It will not let
me use the mouse after I key in some numbers on the keypad. I can move
Apple Keyboards20 May 2008 07:48 GMT3
I have started accumulating Apple wired (like the number pad) keyboards.
I have tow now, with a third coming tomorrow all because I like the
number numeric pad section so much.
However, being a coffee drinker, I have spilled some on the keyboard.

'Best' Wireless N Router for My Needs?18 May 2008 01:03 GMT5
I have an existing setup with a PC desktop and an HP laptop. Both are

about, and communicates with its built-in wireless G to a wireless G
router I have connected to the network.
Removable hard drive won't mount17 May 2008 16:36 GMT4
I added an HFS formatted removable hard drive to my Power Mac G5.  It is a
USB drive with Classic files.  Things were flakey, so I rebuilt the desktop
via Classic preferences (running Tiger, of course).  The drive disappeared
from the desktop.  "About this Macintosh" shows the ...

G4MDD CPU module into Sawtooth G4?11 May 2008 01:56 GMT2
Just a quick post-then-run-for-work, I'll look for any responses later
