Quiet Macs30 Jan 2008 17:55 GMT4
Can anyone point me towards comparisons of noise emissions of the
various desktop Mac models?  My eMac is very noisy and I'm Iooking for
something quieter.  I have Googled around and haven't found anything
recent enough to be useful.  Thanks.
New Macs & SCSI Card?30 Jan 2008 02:13 GMT16
I've been using my old Agfa scanner via scsi card with my mirror door
G4 quite happily for years...
Now that I'm finally looking at upgrading to a new Mac Pro, is it time
to say goodbye to this scanner?  or are there scsi cards for the new
Copying my LDs29 Jan 2008 14:44 GMT11
Googling hasn't helped me much.   I have a Pioneer LD player that I'm
retiring as it is getting old, but I want to copy my laserdisks to DVD
so I can play them in the future.
On the back I see a bunch of plugs, video out, s video out, component
Annoying Mouse Behavior29 Jan 2008 02:58 GMT5
Since my MacBook TrackPad button has gone bad (it will often treat a
single-click as multiple clicks), I have gotten two multi-button mice.
However, I have had the following intermittent problem with each:
The left button will not work and the system wants to make selection
IMac Apple Pro Speakers Issue28 Jan 2008 09:49 GMT2
My PowerMac PowerPC G4 (white half dome shaped) recently developed a
very annoying problem... the Apple Pro speakers stopped working. This
led to much poking around and swearing. I tried sacrificing an old 486
chip to it, but that didn't help either.
How to make a Hackintosh28 Jan 2008 02:27 GMT1
I picked this up on a PC hardware building NG this morning, read it and
found it very interesting to the point that I'm considering it.

Formatted MAC OSX Partition using NTFS - Need to reverse that and get     data files back... Can You Help?26 Jan 2008 20:39 GMT3
Long story short, when trying to use BootCamp to load XP on a MBP, I
accidentally formatted the MAC OSX (latest version) partition (insert
snickers here).
I need a utility that I can point to the drive to reverse my
Logic Board for iMac 1GHz 17"26 Jan 2008 01:38 GMT1
Anyone know any inexpensive sources of logic boards for a iMac, 1GHz,
17" (this is the dome shaped iMac with the articulated arm holding the
17" screen)?
Thank you.
iMac Kernel Panics25 Jan 2008 06:43 GMT3
Been having problems. iMac just came back from a power supply
replacement. As soon as I got it home I started to put it through it's
paces. I periodically have kernel panics now that I wasn't having
before the power supply failed. I had 15 yesterday. I ran the hardware
What are some good Firewire/USB PCI Cards for a Quicksilver 2002     Macintosh?24 Jan 2008 21:47 GMT2
Hello all...
I have a 2002 Quicksilver G4 Power Macintosh. Its onboard Firewire
hardware is blown, and I'd like to replace it. In addition, I'd like
to add USB 2.0 capability.

It seems to be random whether the mac can see the Emprex.
I installed PatchBurn 4.0.5

iMac 800 G4 and OS 10.4.11 - Disk Util/Update NOT WORKING!
Okay, I just did the latest Apple update - the ones that came out in the
last week - whatever comes through on the daily/weekly Software Update
stuff... now Disk Utility won't open, just hangs and acts funny... plus
SWITCHING to INTEL from PowerPC - HOW TO?23 Jan 2008 18:39 GMT3
SWITCHING to INTEL from PowerPC - HOW TO?
Okay, I have PowerPC 1GHz G4s (iMac and Powerbook) that I run from an
external hard drive and OS, so I may keep everything portable and only
need to carry the external HD with me, and nothing is trapped on the
eMac problems23 Jan 2008 01:37 GMT2
Yes, they are obsolete. I work at a school, that comes with the
territory.
I have 3 era's of eMac. They have been the least reliable Macs I've ever
dealt with - 3 of the 4 "original" (700mHz) units went in for repair
Web cam recommendations?20 Jan 2008 14:49 GMT2
If I go for the tempting but pricey Mac Pro rather than an iMac, I'm
going to have to get a Web cam (particularly for working with Delicious
Library).
Can you folks tell me what Web cams are Mac happy? And what should I
