Backing up to an external USB 2.0 HD30 Dec 2007 02:24 GMT6
my usual retailer is flogging billions of cheap USB 2.0 hard disks, at
really reasonable prices.
I always stuck to FireWire 400 or FireWire 800 for backup, which I do
with Super Duper.

Question about Intuos 3 Tablet and IMac27 Dec 2007 12:55 GMT1
Hi. I just purchased a new 24" IMac. I upgraded from a G4 Cube which had
only a 15" monitor. I also have a Graphire 4" X 6" graphics tablet.
However, I'm finding that the tablet is really too small for my new
machine. I am therefore considering buying a 6" X 8" Intuos 3 tablet. I ...

External Hard Drive Humming25 Dec 2007 22:05 GMT8
My elderly external hard drive is still functioning but had developed a
fairly loud quavering hum or buzz. I doubt that this is a good thing,
but is it a sign of impending failure? Thanks

I have a USB analyzer which can only capture Data for upto 12Mbit/s.
When I connect a device which has a USB2.0 protocol on it, the USB

dumb question on battery testing22 Dec 2007 17:31 GMT2
A while ago I had to replace the battery in my powermac 6500. At the
time, I ordered two batteries. I stuck the spare in a box with spare
computer junk. Then, later, I stumbled on the old dead battery that I
pulled out and had put aside, and tossed it in the box without realizing ...

My old HP 4600 just died while trying to do a scan. Cannot resurrect it,
